pickles & cookies

obviously i struggle with subject lines haha. well, it's finally warming up here! this weekend it got above 55 for i think like the first time ever hahaha so people are coming out of their houses & we've been studying outside and talking to people, and i even got a dog lick up the nose hahah. :) so it's been nice. does a lot for your mood, sunshine & warmth :)

in other news, last week we went to a ward baptism (we invited two families with primary-age unbaptized kids....... but neither of them showed up, bummer) but the refreshments afterwards....... okay, this is the weirdest wisconsin thing. PICKLES. wrapped in CREAM CHEESE. wrapped in HAM. sliced up into little.... pickle cream cheese ham stackers. it's the weirdest thing hahaha and i've seen in more than once at more than one home so it's not just an anomaly!! bizzare hahaha. not bad tasting..... just like super weird hahah.

Brother Y continues to be amazing, he told us about a "missionary experience" he had at work... he works at State Farm, and someone came in to get insurance, and they were having a hard time and talking about how they couldn't afford stuff, and Brother Y asked her if she'd ever thought about involving God, and then said that his church has Sisters & Elders who will come to her house and asked if she would like that! What the what!!! hahaha it's just SO Brother Y. (she said no, but that's irrelevant. what if everyone was like that?? how many would say yes? how many could have more of the blessings of the gospel in their lives??) also, in his "spare time" he's translating the Doctrine & Covenants into Hmong. yeah, no big deal... hahaha. kind of awesome :)

it's kind of been a slow week, lots of people canceled/rescheduled so that's been kind of a bummer, yay back-up plans! haha. it's been pretty good though, we've got some good exciting plans coming up so that's good. we met with Brother Y & Sister G (gospel principles teacher & favorite mexican woman ever) & talked about how to help the hispanic community feel more connected to the ward, and Sister G's like "I know!! I can make a pinata!! & we can break it!!!" hahaha. so now we're planning a pinata picnic next month! Elder E & I tossed out the idea of filling it with Book of Mormons & pass-along-cards, dvds, etc...... we'll see ;) haha. also our G.P. lesson last week was on family history, and guys. it's like the greatest thing ever. i'm like mad i can't do it right now hahaha so you can!!! it's so much fun!!!!!!! we got to get just a taste of it, so that we can help others to do it. & we had a new missionary meeting on friday in oshkosh which was good. President invited us to use family history & the members more, and role-plays (which i love but sister d'addabbo hates hahah.) and, s m got to come out with us on wednesday! that's sister m's 17-year-old daughter, she's planning on a mission after high school & she's awesome :) hooray, testimonies!! :)

hmm. i can't really think of anything else, news-wise.... lame haha sorry about that! :) oh i did get some really sweet letters this week from family that meant a lot to me; so thanks family :) you're the best!

well, this week in the Book of Mormon I've been reading in Mosiah 7-10, and just thinking about sneaky satan and how king laman, kind of like satan, "gave up" a little bit of land and zeniff thought he was getting this great deal, when really king laman was just tricking him and planning on taking him into captivity the whole time. over & over & over again zeniff is described as "over-zealous" and i can't for the life of me figure out if he's a "good guy" or a "bad guy" haha most characters in the Book of Mormon that's pretty clear but not Zeniff... so I've been thinking, I don't think it was a bad thing to want to show mercy to the Lamanites & return to the land of the nephite's inheritance, because just a few generations later Ammon & Aaron & the rest get called on missions there! I think the mistake was that Zeniff wanted it in HIS timing, not the Lord's. he was over-zealous to possess the land of his fathers & this blinded him to King Laman's (pretty obvious) trickery. "Yeah, sure you can have this land! I'll just tell my people to clear out & you can have it for free! No problem!" yeah, that's a red flag hahaha nothing worth having was ever got easy! (that applies to missionary work too i think ;) & i can't figure out how to grammatcially fix that sentence, oh well.) as thomas paine once said, heaven knows how to put a proper price on her goods. :) So anyways, just like President Eyring said, "Our own desires, rather than a feeling of “Thy will be done,” create the feeling of a pavilion blocking God... my desires for professional success might have created a pavilion that would make it hard for me to find God and harder for me to listen to and follow His invitations." I think that's what happened to Zeniff. Good idea, wrong timing. Listen to the Lord, Zeniff! next time like 100 people die and you're smitten with famine & sore afflictions on your way somewhere, stop & think for a second if God might be trying to tell you something hahah. :) Also, King Laman is kind of like wanna-be King Amalikiah (see Alma 47... esp. verses 12-13), and they're BOTH like satan - willing to "give us" what we want, make us feel like we're in control, like we're getting a great deal, everything's going great, but then WHAM - you're poisoned by degrees / attacked by lamanites & brought into captivity / in miserable sin land forever. yep, that's how he works! he makes you feel like you're getting tons of "freedom" but the price is way too high. whereas our Heavenly Father WANTS us to be TRULY free - forever!! (see 2 Ne. 2:27-29 -- interesting verb choices!!!! notice the differences!!!!) That's why we have all the commandments & everything. to give us REAL FREEDOM. not fake tricky satan freedom. take note, people. :)

also, why do laziness & idolatry always seem to go together? (mosiah 9:12)

The good news is, the Savior WANTS to Forgive :) (see mosiah 9:17-18) He hears our cries & answers our prayers. see also Daniel 10:12, Exodus 2:23-24, & Psalm 34 (a personal fave).

Also, note the people's 0 tolerance attitude for wickedness & sin. Compare: Alma 30:19-21, & Helaman 6:20-21, 36-37. :)

also, if you're ever curious about how much power satan has, look up 1 Ne 22:26 & Helaman 5:12 :)

also, i just like Joshua 21:45 :)

okay, that's enought scripture stuff i guess :) it's just the best!! guys, the church is true. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know He lives! I know Heavenly Father answers prayers. I know He loves us, & I know everything happens in His timing. I know He knows us perfectly, that He is aware of us, and that He wants to give us every good thing :) Hooray, gospel!! :) :)

favorite hymn this week: Jesus, Lover of my Soul :) also so grateful for the beauty of the earth, & for all of you!!

love, love, love, love, love ---

WELL family, it's been another great week! We set a goal to teach 20 lessons this week (member, less-active, non-member) & we got 17! which was great; more than i think i've ever gotten? we worked super hard this week, so that was great :) okay the computer is being dumb & telling me i only have a minute left when i happen to know i have at least 30 minutes so i'll try to log on in a minute........ love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay, weird... it just made me get off one computer but then let me on to a different one. silly appleton...... haha :) okay. here comes a letter.

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gifokay. now to the week. it was a good one :) teaching people, hooray! we're teaching a family right now where the parents were sealed about 10 years ago but then the dad got offended so they stopped coming, and then the kids were never baptized. oh, it's the w's. i already told you about them :) well we finally got in to teach them & invite them to read the book of mormon, which they all said they would do, which is great. also we've got other appointments this week that could actually lead to BAPTISM so that's way exciting! & always, i love them members here. so much. every journal entry turns into a love letter to appleton wisconsin & the Lord & missionary work hahaha i LOVE it :) :) :)

ALSO, have you seen the new family search??? it's AMAZING!! & hey, i found someone that needs temple work done! but i can't do it! so uh, jakey! joey! get on that! (it was a boy) maryanne! julia! find them! go to the temple! julia, you're almost 12!! get a name to go to the temple & do baptisms for!!! that would be so so amazing, & it's totally possible!!! do it do it do it!! it's way fun haha :) there're cute little videos too if you're not sure how to do it. we've been studying family history this week & trying to figure out how to use it as a finding tool, so that's been fun. :)

in other news, i have discovered a delicious new breakfast called cinnamon cranberry oatmeal. this is the recipie: boil 2 cups of water. (our sink gets the water so hot it boils in less than 10 seconds. literally.) then add some craisins. however many you like. you can always add more. then add 1 cup of old-fashioned oats. then turn the heat down to medium. then add some cinnamon. then stir it & let it cook for like 4-5 minutes. until it starts turns into the consistancy of oatmeal haha. then...... eat it! the sugar from the cranberries makes it sweet enough for me, but you can use honey to sweeted it too if you like. i mean, you COULD use sugar....... but i prefer honey :) okay cousin matthew, it's not oatmeal juice, but we in the states have our own recipies too ;)

whoops i accidentally pressed send. it's a struggle today hahaha sorry :) in other news..... i love Appleton. Brother Y is on FIRE, almost literally haha, i've never seen anyone so excited about missionary work. He gave us 5 referrals yesterday and he is DETERMINED to fill our planners with meaningful teaching opportunities. He works so hard, & this isn't even the only thing he does.... He has a family, two young sons, a job, and he's working on translating the Doctrine & Covenants into Hmong. like, legitly. yeah. he's amazing. Yesterday we had dinner & a lesson with the H’s & Brother H told me that he met the Y’s about 6 months after they were baptized; she was pregnant with E and Brother and Sister Y were both determined to go to the temple like the DAY of their year-mark to be sealed to that E would be born in the covenant. Wow. These are people who really understand the gospel and are committed to living it. Yesterday Brother Y told us that "we have covenanted to share the gospel, and in my opinion we need to be keeping that commandment more fully." just... amazing. i don't think i'll ever get to work with someone so genuinely just...... on fire for missionary work. it's his passion. and it's not dying down. it's just getting stronger & stronger the more he learns. it's incredible & inspiring. We got to meet with him & Bishop A & the Hmong-speaking Elders yesterday, which was great. I just LOVE APPLETON SO SO MUCH. haha. it's gonna be so hard to leave. I was thinking this morning, only 2 people in the whole entire world get to be sister missionaries in Appleton Wisconsin right now. And I'm one of them. Wow. What a blessing. :)

Also I've been thinking about how much I can already feel my mission preparing me for the rest of my life.... like, BESIDES learning more about the Gospel & taking all of that to a whole new level, i'm learning so much about working with people & leading by example & getting along with people & just.... everything. it's amazing. missions are the best, y'all. even when they're hard.... which they are, quite often. that's part of how they work :)   i miss you all so much. i'm so excited to get to talk to you all on mothers day!!!!!!!!! we just have church from 9-12 which is like 7-10 your time i think. :) so we'll figure out a time that will work once it gets closer :)

i love you!!!!!!!   Xoxoxoxox       Sister Proffit :) :)

i don't know what to title this email!

hahaha. missionary struggles.... titling emails ;)

so this week was great! & i think the best way to explain it all is through a series of scriptures.... so here we go! :)

Monday: well this isn't a scripture but everyone should read "Jesus the Perfect Leader" by Spencer W. Kimball. the end. Also happy birthday mom!!!!!!!!! we got to teach an awesome hmong family who's preparing to go to the temple & just answer some questions & ease some concerns.... so excited for them! so cool! so fun! :)

Tuesday: D&C 128:22. FACT.

Wednesday: Psalm 1:2-3. also fact. I want to "be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in [my] season." i just love the imagery of that. & i know that's a true promise as i and all of us delight in the law of the Lord, & meditate therin day & night, & keep His commandments! we will be like trees planted by rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in our seasons :) :) love that.

Thursday: Psalm 34.

Also Mosiah 2:11 - "I am... subject to all manner of infirmities in body and mind; yet I have been chosen... and consecrated... and was suffered by the hand of the Lord that I should be [among] this people; and have been kept and preserved by his matchless power, to serve [them] with all the might, mind and strength which the Lord hath granted unto me." :)

also Mosiah 2:22 is like the most "duh" verse ever hahaha i LOVE it :) :)

Friday: Mosiah 2:30 (can you tell where i'm at in the Book of Mormon? haha) "For even at this time, my whole frame doth tremble exceedingly while attempting to speak unto you; but the Lord God doth support me, and hath suffered me that I should speak unto you, and hath commanded me that I should declare unto you this day." literally ABOUT ME hahah :) :)

also 2:31, another "duh" verse that i love :) :) basically "if you keep doing what you're doing..... and good things have been coming...... good things are gonna keep coming! go figure!" hahaha

Saturday: 1 Ne. 17:12-14 - "And I will also be your light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led. Yea, and the Lord said also that: After ye have arrived in the promised land, ye shall know that I, the Lord, am God; and that I, the Lord, did deliver you from destruction; yea, that I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem." :)

& D&C 68:6 - "Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come." okay. i can do that. :) :)

Also I really loved Zechariah 3:3-7 (temple anyone?) (cross reference with jacob 2:16... the Lord takes away our iniquities. He cleanses us from sin. the purpose of the gospel is to cleanse us from sin so that we can recieve the Savior's mercy at the day of Judgement) :) i just loved the imagery & symbolism there. we have dirty clothes... we sin, we make mistakes, we're imperfect, we're lame. Jesus Christ takes all that away. He gives us new clean clothes, & THEN He gives us a crown on top of all that :) i LOVE that! I love Him :) :)

& Zech. 5:1..... who knew there were food fights in the old testament? hahaha ;)

Sunday: Matthew 25:40 <3

So here's the thing...... I love this ward. So so much. Like..... I might never get over it. Ever. I love them. So much. Last Sunday.... so yesterday... haha... I texted Sister M**** to ask if she had any sudafed for Sister D, & 30 minutes later she was at our house with a bag full of medicine & chicken noodle soup & a stethoscope (she's a retired nurse) & a tongue depressor & everything. I just LOVE her. She is one of the most caring, giving, loving people I've ever met & I've been so blessed just to know her & be touched by her life & her example. & she gave me a list of questions to ask the dr this morning & then fed us breakfast afterwards :) love her. Alsooooooo......... we have a new ward mission leader! I'm starting to feel like I'm a WML killer hahaha this happened in Racine too :) but it's exciting! I love Brother K*** & his family forever & we can still be best friends! but the new WML is.......... BROTHER Y***!!!!!!!! & i LOVE him & his family already! he LOVES missionary work SO SO SO SO MUCH........ like more than anyone i've ever met in my whole entire life hahahaha it's AWESOME. we had a meeting already and he's like okay what are your goals, what can i help you with, let's get the whole ward involved & set the world on fire with missionary work, sound good? & we're like yeah! sounds great! see you saturday! let's do this!! :) :) :) LOVE it. love him forever. love love love it. my worst fear is getting transferred next month hahaha please no please no please no please let me stay. This ward is the greatest. We have an appointment with Bishop next week, which is great, and I just love everybody and never want to leave hahaha. Also after church, we went to the M**** for lunch with them & the V****... the family that just got baptized last November :) Sister V works with Brother M & last August the M's son was speaking in church so he just randomly invited her... and she said yes, and then she got baptized! haha and now she's inviting people to church! it's awesome! & brother m has another friend in bellingham who's interested in food storage..... so i think he'll be calling the EVERETT MISSION OFFICE pretty soon here :) :) which is way way cool. also this didn't happen on Sunday but we invited a member family to have a family home evening with their kids friends (see: "for peace at home" from last conference)... well it was their idea, we just challenged them to actually DO it & gave them a date to do it by :) haha. so that was awesome. I LOVE THIS WARD!!!!!! :) :) :) just..... so so much. i wish you could all come visit Appleton with me :) it's the promised land! you'll see someday :) :) i love being a missionary!!!!!!! what a privilege it is to wear the nametag & do the Lord's work, full-time, no distractions. i love it. satan is stupid but he's lame & Jesus overcame him anyways, so who cares about him ;) haha. love it. Oh I was going to tell you, with had a lesson with the M & the V, & C (sis v's 8 yo son) was like "i don't know how/why God loves me" (that's the question in primary this year.... how do you know God loves you) & Sister M bore a really great testimony about how she knows God loves her because of the people in her life who love her, & how she's noticed that c's been a lot less sad about his grandparents' passing away since he's been baptized, & he was like "huh, you're right! i guess that's how i know God loves me!" & it was awesome. & I got to add my testimony to hers that I know God loves me because I know my parents love me, & I love them. & I know that I will get to be with them forever, in perfect love & joy. That's how I know God loves me :)

This week has been good, ups & downs, disappointments & triumphs, & just moving the Lord's work forward! I love it so so much! I feel like I can't ever do enough to repay this ward for their service & goodness, let alone you all, beloved family & friends, & let's not even think about how I can NEVER EVER EVER even START to repay my Heavenly Father for EVERYTHING that He has done for me & is STILL doing for me, every single day. (see mosiah 2:20-21 - I say unto you, my brethren, that if you should render all the thanks and praise which your whole soul has power to possess, to that God who has created you, and has kept and preserved you, and has caused that ye should rejoice, and has granted that ye should live in peace one with another— I say unto you that if ye should serve him who has created you from the beginning, and is preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will, and even supporting you from one moment to another—I say, if ye should serve him with all your whole souls yet ye would be unprofitable servants." I LOVE my Heavenly Father & I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know they live. I know they are real. I know that they are aware of each of us, that they love us infinitely & unconditionally, & that their Gospel is the only way for us to ever have lasting peace & joy. It's the truth! it's the greatest :) :)

Sister D has been kinda sickish this week so that's been hard, but we went to the doctor so now she can start getting healthy! & she's such a trooper, we have still been getting work done & making calls & setting appointments & yes, even knocking doors & doing surveys :) We even got to visit with some sweet ladies who were having a hard night & didn't want to talk to us [like... did NOT] but we just asked them a few questions about prayer and then asked if we could pray for them, and they softened up SO much & we prayed together & held hands & had a hallelujah prayer circle! & afterwards they were like "we love you, God bless you, Jesus rocks, He sent you to us tonight" etc etc so that was really awesome. Yay Jesus! :)

Other great things this week..... P*** & M*****'s wedding! We got to SERVE which is the greatest thing ever...... yes, PLEASE let me wash that spoon for you & take your plate! it's the least I can do!! that morning we went over to help P put rice in ziplock bags, then we went to be early to the wedding...... okay, here is why mormons are awesome. we got there at 3:30 for a 4pm wedding, and we were the 1st ones there. nothing was set up. people arrived and started setting up tables, getting things ready, we helped but then had to leave so that i could play prelude on the organ (i played the organ for a wedding! we sang "love at home" haha..... what other wedding hymns are there?? for prelude i ran out of ideas so i started playing hymn 26.... sister d'addabbo laughed at me hahaha. whatever, it's pretty!) :) and then after the ceremony we walked back into the gym and it was BEAUTIFUL. someone had pulled together decorations out of the primary closet or something & everything was just beautiful! & set up! & lovely! so that was awesome :) it was interesting going to a church "time-only" wedding after having been to a temple wedding & noting the differences........ look it up sometime, if you can. most noticable to me: in the church, the ceremony is performed in front of "God, and these witnesses." just think about that. if you've been to the temple. sorry to be so cryptic everyone else hahaha. :) and yeah, it was just a really nice time and SO nice to just be able to SERVE. love love love it. <3 love this ward.

ps.... can i get eliza bishop's address? :) & whatever happened to sending me book of mormon sharing notes? haha i loved that :)

that's about it! i love you all & miss you so so much!! i got a letter from one of my efy babies & i love that so so much! i love all of my efy chillin's & think of them very often :) :) & of course i love everyone else too...... just a special shout-out to the efy kids :) haha.

you're the greatest ever!! families can be together FOREVER. forever. think about that. Jesus Christ loves us all SO much. We can be with Him again, eternally. I know that that's true. I know that the Atonement is REAL. it's the greatest news ever! Brethren, shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren, & on! On to the Victory!!!!

LOVE YOU

CONFERENCE CONFERENCE CONFERENCE CONFERENCE

"let's see.... our next speaker will be..... YOU!" ~ johnny biscuit ;) so many funny & amazing moments this weekend!! i thought of you all so much!! we'll have to figure out a good way to have some good conference discussions because they are the best! you are the best! living prophets are the best! :) :)

this week has been amazing & crazy....... i'm training!! we went & picked up Sister D'Addabbo last Wednesday... well we drove down on Tuesday but I met her on Wednesday :) During the "training the trainer" meeting Wednesday morning I just felt SO sick like i was going to throw up or cry or both & SO inadequate & just like WHAT am i doing here........ but then we met the new missionaries and i just got so HAPPY & like "you know what? we CAN do this! it's going to be amazing! we're going to see miracles!!" & it's just been so so good ever since :) :) we've pretty much filled up our schedule for next week, which makes me happy, & we're just out doing missionary work! we've even tracted a bit & i haven't died! it's a miracle! hahaha it's been really really good, & amazing to FEEL how the Lord has strengthened me & bouyed me up. THANK YOU so so much for your prayers.... i can feel 'em and i need 'em. Keep them coming!! :) :) hurrah for prayer. I loved that thought from conference.... few things have more power than a faithful mother's prayer :) faith is a real power, not just an expression of belief :)

okay speaking of conference.... did you feel like there was just a huge theme of HOPE & PEACE through living the Gospel??? and just a HUGE focus on Jesus Christ, even more so than usual?? I can hardly remember who spoke about what because I feel that they all spoke about the same thing!! such a flow!! huh, it's almost like God was directing this conference or something..... ;) ;) love it. I think one of my favorite talks was Craig A. Cardon.... The Savior WANTS to forgive. I just loved that, so so much. & of course I loved the one about a Christ-centered home, I feel like it came as an answer to prayer for at least one member family in this ward, & it reminded me a lot of our home :) northern idaho farm boy & les mis shout-outs made my life, Elder Bednar gave the Chastity SMACKDOWN, so great, & Elder Nelson! Catch the wave! Elder Anderson! apostolic invitations & promsed blessings! Elder HOLLAnd!! :) :) love love love it :) :) Elder Falabella, "shake hands with everyone!!" hahahahaha

this is all out of order but the way-cool miracle of the week is this.... so after a looong day of contacting/tracting/being hungry & rejected (it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that fun either...) we were on our way home and this one family kind of came to mind, and they're kind of on the way so i was like "what the heck, we'll just stop by." so i asked Sister D'Addabbo if that was okay and she said yeah, we knocked on the door and the dad answered and said "It's funny you should stop by.... my wife and I were actually talking this morning..." and i was like OH SHOOT we're about to get rejected, shot down, asked not to come back.... o me of little faith...... he continues "and we've decided to come back to church. it's pretty clear that's what we need to do. So, 9 o'clock?" !!!!!!!!!!!! okay, wow. that was amazing. we were able to tell him that this weekend was general conference & give him a little card we'd made up that morning with the times & website & all that, and he asked us if we could come back to teach his family a lesson! hmmmmm........ okay, fine, we will. twist our arms ;) haha. they have 2 unbaptized children! and get this........... they're a previous do not contact family! HA HA HA is what i have to say to THAT! :) :) :) so that was awesome. what if we hadn't stopped by?? would they have come to church?? would they have showed up at 9am and found it locked & empty & been like well nevermind then? Brother W******* commented more than once how "weird" it was that we had stopped by hahaha hmmmmmm thank you Spirit!! :) :) we've really been seeing miracles together as we've redoubled our efforts to be exactly obedient & to work hard. it's like they said in conference..... obedience + selfless service = power!!! LOVE that!! :) :) :)

So yeah, Elder Holland gave just an amazing POWERhouse talk this session, as per usual, & I LOVED it!! :) :) "I invite you to lean on mine" so powerful. let's see... what else was great.... there's so much, i'll have to send you like a little bit each week. aren't you going to watch a talk a week till next conference? let me know which ones you're studying & i'll study them too! that'll be so great!! :) :) this conference was just cool cause i felt like i was getting answers & revelation for myself, but also for how to teach other specific people & for how to help this ward. so that was amazing & awesome :) what goals have you set because of conference? what plans have you made to achieve those goals? :) :) not to get all preach-my-gospel on you haha but it IS the greatest :) :)

I thought it was really cool, I forget who said it, but basically they said that priesthood power is what made it possible for the Savior to perform the Atonement! I'd never thought about that before :) Have you all already watched the Worldwide Leadership Training? I think Sister D'Addabbo & I are going to set aside some time to watch that together & implement it into our work. I feel like there were a lot of really specific apostolic invitations this conference, as well as some amazing promised blessings! I'm going to have to go through and highlight those when i finally get a conference ensign :) Elder Eyring's really been on the same theme these past two conference... closeness to God! & I felt just such a huge focus on the peace that comes from living the Gospel, & building our homes on the solid foundation of Christ, and how we can withstand all things if we do that... and LIGHT and HOPE! I wonder why God wants us to know that?? I felt like almost EVERY SPEAKER touched on that.... was that just me?? especially Saturday afternoon I think. such a theme of peace!!! crazy. God is directing this work. We are led by living prophers & apotles! hurrah!! :) :) & great strong, bold, unflinching testimonies too!! from like everyone!! & gather to the church! & like EVERYONE shared that "stone cut out of the mountain without hands" scripture!! yeah?? seemed like it to me anyways....

"One of the greatest blessings we can offer to the world is a Christ-centered home, where the gospel is taught, covenants are kept, & love abounds." :) :) I thought of you guys a lot on that one!!

Elder Nelson, cracking me up with "Let's ask the missionaries! They can help us!" hahaha I love it :) :) Just SO MUCH great revelation!! The heavens are open again!! :) :) :) love it!!! Our Living God is a Loving God!! & 1 Peter 3:15 quoted twice too.... I'd be interested to know what the most quoted scriptures were this conference! Who can hook me up with that? ;)

Hey, how was the priesthood session? Men & brethren, what revelation can you share with me? :)

Come & See. So so great.

i survived my first wisconsin winter!!

& it has been positively balmy these past few days haha i've been leaving my coat at home! above freezing, who needs a coat? ;) haha. it has been up around the 50s lately too, which is nice :) all the snow is melting! i can finally see grass!! hahah

So basically the huge news of this week is...... I'M TRAINING. President Jones called on Thursday night and said "Are you ready for high adventure next transfer?" & i said "Oh my gosh." [whoopsie! haha] & he said "Are you willing to train?" & I said "Yes, I'm willing to train." & then he explained logistics about meeting in Milwaukee & when & all that, & said "love you!" & I was just like "k. k. k. k. love you too. bye." kind of in shock hahaha. i feel better about it now...... it's just a really really huge responsibility that sets the course for the whole rest of their mission!!! & i feel like i don't really know what i'm doing hahaha i asked sister ross "what do new missionaries like to eat?" i feel like i'm adopting a baby panda hahaha i have no idea how to take care of it! BUT the Lord does & I know & trust that He will help me as I rely more fully on Him & strive to be exactly obedient & the new sister & I do our darnest to follow the Spirit & do what we've been called to do. So.... pray for us!! hahah we're gonna need it :) definitely super humbling. we meet them wednesday morning. i'll let you know how that goes :) ahh. so crazy. why me?? hahaha

in other, more minor news........ we went to a member family's house for dinner [they are SO FUNNY!] & the dad has like 21398379 followers on twitter & i was like "oh, i have twitter!" & before i knew it he looked me up & found my blog haha whoooopsie! lesson learned i guess hahaha luckily i never have anything bad to say about the ward & the area because i love it! :) also, they made the most delicious lasagna ever.... they used sausage! delicious :) also, someone at Bethesda was talking to us & when we introduced ourselves as "Sister" he said, "oh, from what order?" [there are lots of Catholics here..... they think we're nuns] so we explained what we do & what Church we're from, & said "Oh, well isn't that nice of yous two!" which cracked me up hahah.

amazing things that exist that i discovered in wisconsin: PEPPERMINT BREATH MINT POP ROCKS. a sister in the ward's boyfriend like... works for the pop rock factory? so i hugged her on sunday and then she was like "do you want a breath mint?" & i was like "... dang it" hahaha but she just wanted to show me the breath mint pop rocks. which were AWESOME, btw :)

Easter Sunday miracles....... THREE different less-active families came!! hooray!! the L's (who have a 9 year old daughter not yet baptized! they remind me of the d's sometimes) made it (well just the dad & kids, mom worked, but still), Sister R (who always says she'll come but never does) AND her non-member husband (who only speaks Spanish...... I WISH THAT I KNEW SPANISH) & two other sisters we haven't seen in a long time. Hooray!! Also, the Gospel Principles teacher is from Mexico, which is awesome. Thumbs up for bilingual Sunday School! I actually understand a good amount, I just can't SAY anything. & the teacher is also the Visiting Teacher for the L's AND the R'! yeah yeah yeah! so that's way cool :) also -- she makes awesome enchiladas :) who'da thunk wisconsin would be so multi-cultural? haha :)

Easter Sunday scripture chain.... Isa 25:8 / 1 Cor 15:55-57 / Mosiah 16:6-9 [besthttps://mail.google.com/mail/e/B0C] / Alma 7:12 (11-13)  Thanks be to God, who gives us the VICTORY through Jesus Christ!!!! I was watching the Bible Video "He Is Risen" & that was the thought that came to mind.......... HE DID IT. He won. What a VICTORY. & in all things we are more than conquerers through Him that loved us https://mail.google.com/mail/e/B0C (see Romans 8) :) I LOVE that! I know that Jesus Christ took upon Him every sin, weakness, burden, trial, imperfection, sickness... EVERYTHING. He took it all on and HE OVERCAME. Yes He did. & through Him, through living His gospel, WE TOO can overcome EVERYTHING that keeps us from having all the joy that our Father in Heaven enjoys. EVERY obstacle has been overcome. WHAT. A. VICTORY. https://mail.google.com/mail/e/B0Chttps://mail.google.com/mail/e/B0Chttps://mail.google.com/mail/e/B0C. He has provided a Way! He IS the Way! (John 14:6)

So basically, Easter is awesome :) In case anyone was ever wondering...... Jesus Wins, & satan loses. the end. :) :) :)

~ transition words...... i'm the worst at transitions hahaha ~

I feel like there is a lot of potential in this area....... I'm just gonna have to get out there and WORK with my new companion & I know we'll start to see miracles :) (huh, imagine that... missionary work is WORK! see "diligence" in PMG ch. 6 ;) )

We had a member lesson the other week, & we were talking about blessings that come from missionary service, & the husband bore a very sincere & emotional testimony that blessings are coming to my family specifically & directly because of my service here in Wisconsin. "and that should make you want to get up at 6am every morning and work your hardest all day long." :) it does!!

LOVE you guys so so much!!! you're the best & i feel SO SO blessed to have you as my ETERNAL family :) :) you're an inspiration to me & you're amazing!!! keep writing me & sharing with me the miracles you're seeing in your life :) :)

things i forgot to mention: hmong desserts are delicious. coconut sticky rice? yes please :)

& the other "cultural barrier? what cultural barrier?" moment i loved was when we were going around the table sharing what we'd brought & the sister next to me was like "okay, okay, i didn't bring anything! & i thought i could get away with it but now we're going around the table saying what we brought & i'm so embarassed!" hahaha & elder yang was translating and you could tell when he got to that part because N L just started BUSTING UP hahahahaha laughing SO hard & saying "me, same thing! same thing!" hahaha i loved it :) :)

also....... we helped someone take down their Christmas tree last week. hahahahha. :)
