“you smile more than most people I’ve met” J

and SUDDENLY it's monday again and march is over and time is going by waaaayyyyyyyyyy to fast. i still feel like it's 2 weeks ago.... or maybe november.... or maybe july sometime. or maybe last year. i'm not sure hahaha. but it's going by way too fast. i blink twice and i don't know where i am. but it's good :) :) it's been a fantastically awesome week, again! as always!! haha it's hard to be sad when you're a missionary for Jesus Christ in the greatest land you know :) :)

so monday was awesome, we went to Holy Hill and I sent you pictures... we got lost in Merton (again) but managed to find our way to where we were going, and then sang a spanish hymn (#88) that was great.

tuesday was 4th CHRISTMAS and i love my district because the lake mills elders showed up in green & red ties with santa hats and candy canes for everyone <3 #bffs it was a party :) also, guess how many times i've been to culvers this week? answer: i lost track after 4. but guess how many culvers miracles we saw this week? THREE.  1) we went to culvers for tuesday lunch with the lake mills sisters because (tragically!) they do not have a culvers in their area. thennnnn after dtm we were coming back and o texted us and was like "i'm starving! can you bring culvers to our lesson?" soooooo we went back to the same culvers less than 4 hours later (look who's back agaainnnn...!) and of course the workers recognized us hahaha but it was cool because the lady who took our order was like "who are you? are you all sisters? why does your nametag say Jesus Christ?" and we were like well, let us tell you! we are all children of God! which means that we are all sisters! how cool is that? and she was like "way cool! i'm gonna put extra cookie dough on your frozen custard!" hahah :) :) 2) we went on exchanges to the midtown culvers in milwaukee. i would just like to mention that we were the only white people in the entire building and it was fun. we wore our butterburger baby vests and had a jolly ol' time, and then someone came up to us and was like, "are you in the ministry?" and we were like "why, yes!" and then we talked about Jesus Christ and read a verse from the Book of Mormon together, and it was glorious. 3) the flavor of the day on wednesday was my all-time favorite so i bought a quart. and it did not disappoint :) :) :) so that was a fun week... hahaha. on a more spiritual note, cool things i learned:  alma 18:42 - king lamoni's conversion, he "dies" in a way - the old man is dead, and new life begins with conversion :) we've been listening to a david osmond cd "road less traveled" a lot, and one of the songs ("loneliest walk") has lyrics that i really life.... "His body bruised and back still open from the scourging / the consequence of wicked men / He knows no man on earth has ever deserved this / but still He bears it all for them" <3 it's a really great song :) and one of the other ones got me thinking - when Christ said "let him who is without sin cast the first stone at her" i never realized - there was someone without sin there. but He didn't. and it's cool. :)

tuesday we went to the J's and i laughed ridiculously hard :) :)

wednesday was exchanges and dang. i just love being a missionary SO SO MUCH <3 <3 <3 at one point we were just sitting in the car in menomonee falls, making some phone calls, and i was like dang. i am so. so. happy right now. just so happy and content. i love this life i lead :) :) :) i get to help people, really help people with their actual deepest needs by helping them to get real, life-changing, life-saving power that's legit. it's so real and i love it :) :) :) and there is no way i am stopping that come april haha ;) i love milwaukee and exchanges and this missionary life :) also we had a lesson with a cool guy who told us "you smile more than most people i've met" and that's why he wanted to talk with us. and that's pretty legit :) :) :) it made me happy :)

thursday i decided that i want to see the saratov approach when i get home... also we taught a great lesson to a new friend and i like doing that sort of thing :) quotes: (whilst eating chocolate eclair frozen custard) "I would rather be blind than lose my sense of taste." ~ sister roylance. "Would you be this flakey with Jesus???" ~ sister roylance (seriously though....) ;) "if you came back to visit, i would not remember you." ~ m s (you may remember him from the Christmas skype session ;) also, remember how Christmas was soooooooooo long ago and also feels like last week?????)  also, got a priceless photograph from sister blood & sister begay of two elders who legit look like harry and ron. attaching a copy, obviously. :) :) :)

friday i was mad and then excited because they changed ZTM from elkhorn to kenosha which means no baby burritos and more miles but YES revisiting racine and going to O&H bakery one last time before i go home and also seeing lake michigan :) :) :) so, perks. finna make the most out of it :) friday was also kind of weird because we have a friend who is.... kind of weird and when we invited her to be baptized on a specific date she was like "i'm getting rreeeaallllly angryyyyy... heh heh heh......" and then she cast out a devil. or something. which was. really weird. hahahaha. but we survived ;) us: "good feeling gone!" (finding nemo) ;) it was interesting, that's for sure!! hahaha. don't worry, we are safe... hahah :) she also told us (before) that she wants to be sure that the Book of Mormon is true because "I don't want to get baptized into Satanland!!" hahaha. it made me laugh because... that's something i would say?? ;) friday was also kind of awesome because it was LINGER LONGER and i love the Kettle Moraine ward and i love Sister Ruiz and Sister Roylance and I love good music and so on the drive home sister ruiz was like "let's jam this out" and then we listened to our favorite song and drove home in beautiful darkness in beautiful wisconsin and i was happy <3 also on friday i got a letter from my BFF sister c and she included her husband n c' first talk in sacrament meeting and it just made my heart so happy.... it's the sort of thing you always want to get from someone you love :) :) :) also on friday we got like a kabillion legit referrals because this ward is wonderful :) finna have some dinna with members & their friends! also, we had someone "take back" a referral but only because they wanted to "do it right" and instead of having us pretend to tract into them she wants to tell her that she knows our message will help her and that she's sending us and to just listen. soooooo even better :) :) :) we're excited :)

SATURDAY was wonderful because we got to teach my friends t n and s who are children of a j and s is their step-mom (yes there are two s(h) j... i love them both) :) and we're finna watch conference with them. and THEN we went to milwaukee for the women's conference! and it was glorious even though all of our friends who say they would come did not come. but that is okay. we had a wonderful time nonetheless :) :) i love the women of wisconsin! aaaaaand i got to see SO MANY FRIENDS from Racine!!! it was magical!! i literally did a little hop-skip-jump of joy when i saw my friend sister johnson who fed me peppermint ice cream on one of my first days on a mission :) :) :) it was glorious. i loved it :) :) a year and change later... wow. :) also on saturday it was 40 degrees and that is leave your coat at home and drive around with the windows rolled down weather, so we loved it :) :) also we went to Kopps and it was delicious. (kopps is another frozen custard place........ i don't have a problem, i'm just trying to make the most of my time in wisconsin!!! hahaha) anyways. saturday at women's conference it was great. the mke south stake had their own women's conference just before, and we loved it. did you ever read Exodus 14:21? the parting of the red sea is not how you pictured it! :) and then, of course, i loved the general women's broadcast. when i heard a women's voice announcing instead of lloyd newell's though i said "what the heck????" probably way too loud.... ;) also, greatest loves = the first presidency for each other and for being themselves. it's my favorite hahaha. #triopower ;) singing "teach me to walk" = me crying. basically everything about women's conference = me crying because i love my mom and my sisters and my grammas and my aunts and i've been so blessed to have such amazing women in my life, and i love my mission so every time they mention anything remotely related to missions i'm like sobbing, and then i really really miss my mom and my sisters and when i left my sisters were so young and now they're so old and so basically i was just crying. also the Spirit was really really strong ;) haha. i loved it. :) also loved the new camera angles. the church is so hip these days ;) so... yes. i loved it :)

here is something you should read... it's from Preach my Gospel :)
"Truth is a knowledge of things as they really are, were, and will be. It does not change with conditions or time. God is the source of all truth. God wants all His children to know the truth. Therefore, He reveals the truths necessary for salvation through prophets and apostles. He reveals truth to us personally through the scriptures and personal revelation.
A prophet is called and chosen by God and is a righteous man with great faith. The Lord reveals truth to him through the Holy Ghost. He commands His prophet to teach truth to all people.
Christ’s Church is built on the foundation of apostles and prophets, who direct the Church by revelation. [Those] who lead The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today are... prophets and apostles. The President of the Church today is a living prophet.
We are to prepare ourselves so that when the prophets and apostles speak, the Holy Ghost can confirm the truths they teach, and we can then determine to follow the counsel they give us.
(this last part is the best) Those who listen to and follow the counsel of living prophets and apostles will not go astray. The teachings of living prophets provide an anchor of eternal truth in a world of shifting values and help us avoid misery and sorrow. The confusion and strife of the world will not overwhelm us, and we can enjoy the assurance of being in harmony with God’s will.":) :) :) if that doesn't get you pumped up for conference, i don't know what will :) :) :) sooooo i'm excited :)

also, on sunday i met some Bates from Singapore who said "Sister Proffit? that actually sounds really familiar..." so perhaps they know the other sister proffit preaching and teaching on the other side of the world :) that was cool :)  good news from Sunday: A G came to church! it was a miracle! and we didn't even have to push and poke and prod haha it was great :) :) :) also, a precious young woman named m s gave a talk about family love and said "we can show our love through warm gooey brownies.... sharing our toys..... angel food cake with strawberries..... being nice..... ice cream..... and going to disneyland four times a year!!" hahaha i was dying. laughter in church. it's how i roll ;) also, had dinner with the n's and brother n said, completely seriously, "i felt like i was eating a rainbow..." [about pineapple in hawaii]

sooooo... obviously the best week ;) hahaha.

more good things: IT WAS OVER 60 DEGREES OUTSIDE. murricle. almost all the snow is melted ;) got to take a nap. and bishop taught a great 5th sunday lesson on combating pornography. fact: bishop w is awesome. seriously, so great. quote - "We need to match the adversary in deliberateness in combating him." this is truth.

things that are awkward: comp inventory in a trio. hahaha i think we did more awkward laughing than speaking buuuuuuuttttttt it was good. we set some good goals. so there ya go :)

i love them! i love this area! i love missionary work! i love my family and i love this gospel :) life is full of good things <3 well. that's all i guess :) this gospel gets truer every day. i love my life. God is good :)

“that portion of mankind God has given us to love & to serve”

oh hey there family! :) long time no see...... seriously though haha. :) :)   happy st. patrick's day! ... last week! haha i hope you went all out and wore all green everything, because i did and it was glorious. mint-green top with teal-green skirt? oh baby, youbetcha ;) hahaha. plus i have a nice green raincoat i can wear because miracle of miracles, it's finally raincoat season and i have retired the giant black sleeping bag :) farewell, mission parka. you have done me well. i will be wearing you in the seattle-tacoma airport on april 24th, 2014, because there is no way you are fitting in any of my bags <3 #packingjoys ;) anyways, st. patty's day was great, we went to bishop w's house and they are obviously my favorite. everyone (except the 2 yr old? #independantstreak) was wearing audacious green and we ate corned beef and cabbage... which is REALLY salty.... and drank "leprechaun dump in a cup" even though bishop told the kids not to call it that hahaha. and it was really really fun and i love them. :) :) :) and we had a delicious minty treat. i am trying to make this email not all about food but it's difficult sometimes hahah ;) also we took a selfie on bishop's phone for seester blood and we were trying to email it to me and i was struggling HARDCORE with the iphone 5 hahaha and bishop was like "come on sister proffit.... iphones existed before your mission, you know!" hahahaha. seriously struggling though hahaha #missionjoys ;)

tuesday i realized that the prophet on the cover of the january 2014 ensign looks like benedict cumberbatch (bbc actor) so that was cool. tuesday we also went to the m's to teach o:) a series of great things ensued. 1) we were like "hey, we have a few extra minutes and it's almost 50 degrees, lets go to culvers and get a scoop for o!" so we did, and we brought it to her, and turns out it was her FAVORITE flavor and she was having a hard day. so good. job. Spirit. :) :) :) #revelationthroughdesireforculvers ;) 2) c m (age 8) came home from school. sis m: "hi sweetie!" cameron: "I'M STARVING AND I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM." me: story of my life, kid.... hahaha. :) :) <3 them 3) (and this one is a legit miracle....) we were teaching o el plan de salvacion (i <3 language study <3) and her mom walks in to say that she's going to the store or something.... and her mom has declined to hear the lessons etc before, and she's not extremely supportive (not un-supportive, but not like weeping for joy either) but today before she leaves she goes, "since i'm here, would you guys mind saying a prayer for me?" and so we did.... and it was awesome. there's a couple of moments on my mission that have been like... whoosh. so intense. usually i'm praying for someone who really needs it. and it's like a lot of pressure, but it's not, and the Spirit is strong and i'm so grateful. and that's the kind of moment that it was. and it feels good. i love this missionary gig. :) :) anyways. it was awesome. :) also on tuesday we got to teach a and i love her. i've discovered an enormous love for teaching the basics. restoration. plan of salvation. i think that's all i'm gonna teach till i go home <3 <3 <3 :) :) also, the trio is still great. i love sister roylance & sister ruiz :) :) :)

wedesday we got to teach the m... they are great. they are funny and old but they are great :) 1 ne 15-16... which was their assignment to read last time haha but they forgot so we did 1 ne 11-14 twice in a row ;) #dejavu #groundhogday? ;) also had a moment on wednesday, driving around oconomowoc... i think we were stopped at a light or something and i just realized how much i love these people. how much i love what i'm doing. how grateful i am to be here :) :) i was reading a talk by president kimball where he talks about "that portion of mankind God has given us to love & to serve" and just reflecting a bit. i like this life :) ALSO. family, this is really exciting. you might want to pay attention to this part. i have discovered one of my new greatest loves. it is this: not doing menial labor because a computer is doing it for me <3 and how i discovered it is this: PANDORA'S HOPE CHEST. it's an extension on google chrome. get it now and then go to familysearch.org. IT WILL SEARCH YOUR FAMILY TREE FOR THOSE WHO NEED THEIR TEMPLE WORK DONE. like, HELLO. where has this been all my life. no more clicking back forever & ever & ever & ever.... now, a computer will do that for us :) :) :) :) seriously, DO THAT and then take those names to the temple & do more research :) :) :) :) :) so that was cool. scripture chains discovered this week: 2 Ne. 26:15 / Alma 5:7-9. God does the heavy lifting :) 2 Ne. 25:23 / Alma 24:10-11. what is "all we can do"? :) :) pretty cool.

thursday was interviews and those were fun. president prefaced mine by saying we weren't going to talk about me going home, we have another interview for that, so that was nice hahaha :) we also introduced ourselves and our "spirit animals" in dtm... best quote: "my spirit animal is a giraffe. yellow's my favorite color and i have freckles. i was meant to be.... well, a person, because i'm a child of God." hahahahah <3 sister plante ;) also i got a sick cd from elder hedgecock (titled, "sister proffit's jams for her last transfer!" hahaha) and a fantastically hilarious letter from sister blood. so it was a good thursday. also went to le ducs for the reputedly best custard in the state of wisconsin, and it was great. i asked the boy working there what i should get and this was a huge mistake because he recommended (and i ordered... and ate...) the "topper" burger. which is legit a burger with deep fried cheese curds and an onion ring and bbq sauce. clearly invented by a teenage boy and never meant for human consumption. but i ate it. and survived. and then drank a regular black cow that only cost me the price of a jr black cow because blessings of missionary service. #suddenlywerebacktofood #andfreefood #mygreatestlove? ;) #youonlyserveamissioninwisconsinonce

best quote from friday (obviously from my bestie s j)... sisters r asked her how she came in contact with the church. "We [her & her now-husband] were carrying these giant santa claus bags full of cans out to our tent in the forest and he just busts out, "hey, i'm a mormon priest!" :) :) :) :) :) :) :) ohhhhhhh family. someday soon i will tell you about her and my other best friend aron (her husband) and how the gospel literally changes and saves lives daily. i love them so much. i love this gospel so so much :) :) :) :) :) :) :)friday we also went to a FRIDAY FISH FRY (finally!!) and it was great. tommy & di's diner in mapleton, wisconsin. where it's at :) :) and we taught the gospel.... and we loved our friends.... and it was a generally great great day. i love missionary work :) :) :)

saturday sister b presented me with a wonderful present.... a placemat map. hahahaha story.... i have a newfound love/appreciate/obsession with geography, thanks to the maps in our apartment. so at her house for dinner once i was talking about it........ and then like a month later she bought me a map placemat of my own hahaha what a priceless friend she is :) :) :) and she told the person where she bought it that it was for a missionary and she's going to go back and tell him that i love it and give him a passalong card hahaha #membermissionarywork ;) also on saturday we got to teach the lovely a c again and she got to feel the Spirit tell her what she needs to do to repent and then she recognized it and acted on it and did it and i love it :) :) also she gave us like 5 legit referrals hahaha #testimonystrengthened :) :) :) and i love the plan of salvation. and i love a. and i love missionary work :) :)

also taught the J KIDS finallyyyyyyyyyy and it was great. they have a 14-year-old son who is legit and wants to have the Spirit in his life. so obviously i loved that even more than i loved the eggplant spaghetti sauce we had on our noodles for dinner. #healthfood #wordofwizdom ;) also, took us 3 minutes to drive to their house, and 10 minutes to parallel park. #howmanysistermissionariesdoesittaketoparallelparkamissioncarinoconomowoc #apparently3... #triopower. sister ruiz was literally hanging out the side of the car directing sister roylance hahaha #ifeelitsfine ;) also, i've been learning spanish slang. so now i say "chin!" (cheeeen!) instead of freak & heck #gome ;) also, quote from sister ruiz: "everything denotes that there is a weirdness in sister proffit" hahaha ;) <3

sunday was beautiful. sunday always is :) a & her mom came to church!! all three hours!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) miracle.  and then afterwards we contacted a referral from s (the crazy cat man of oconomowoc.... we finna go back another time) :) and then went to see my favorite 95 year old, a g. and we commenced to laugh really really hard for a really really really long time :) :) :) new favorite thing: profound quotes that don't actually make sense.

"Life is like a mirror. Whatever you see reflects back at you." ~ a g <3 :) it's a nice idea though. i liked it :) also she told sister ruiz (who is mexican) that mexico is a horrible country. she didn't realize she was mexican and didn't understand why we were all laughing hysterically hahaha. there were several more funny quotes but you probably had to be there.......... missions are the best, that's all i'll say :) :)  also i love espanol and i love language study. i'm practicing praying and testifying en espanol and it is muito bom (that's portugese for very good.. hahaha) :) also yesterday sister ruiz taught us the restoration en portuges and i got kinda lost but when she started saying the first vision.... i still didn't understand what she was saying but i felt the difference. so i knew which part she was on. it was cool :) :) :) me gusta language study!!! :) :) :) goal: read the entire libro de mormon out loud. eventually. :)

okay okay okay. that is all i have to say. it's been a muito bom week :) :) i love missionary work and i love kettle moraine and i love my companions and i love my friends. and i love YOU, familia. see you when i see you :) :) :) the work is true! the gospel is true. o evangelio abensoa as familias. (no idea how to spell that but i can say it.) :)  i love you mucho mucho :) :) :)xoxoxoxoxoxox seester cecelia proffit :) :) :)

scripture of the week =  1 Ne 16:8 (again) because.... I'm happy. and sometimes I'm so happy that just saying the words "I'm the happiest i have ever been in my whole entire life because of the gospel/my mission/etc" or just "I'm happy!" is enough to make me cry :) :) :) oh we also taught the g's on thursday... [he's less-active, she's been investigating off & on for like 7 years....] out of 1 ne 8 (tree of life) and were like okay seriously though..... where do you see this going????? what do you desire?? what's gonna get you there???? and it was good. understanding was had. commitments were made and kept. except they still didn't come to church. but she's hopefully been reading daily... we text her every day to see how's it's going hahah ;)   okay that is all :) also, the j's do the pathways program. did you know you can go to byu for $65/credit?????????????????

also -- told the ward council j h was a ninja. they were like "......" but they said they'd help us catch him :) :)

IT’S THE FINAL TRANSFER!!!!!

duh nuh-nuh nuh.... duh nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh!! duh nuh-nuh nuh....  duh nuh-nuh nuh-nuh-nuh duhhhh.. nuh nuh nuhhh...  duh nuh-nuh nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh, dunn dunnn! duh nuh nuh!! duh nuh nuhh!!!!!!!!

okay okay okay. i mostly just did that because i wanted you to have that song stuck in your head all day ;) in actuality, i really am not feeling that tense/nervous/panic-y/whatever about this being "the final transfer." it really doesn't feel like that at all. just another transfer, gonna make it totes the best... it's gonna be great :) :) also, thanks to everyone who's sent me letters & advice & encouragement & prayers.... it's really really helping and i'm feeling a lot more at peace than i have been for the past little bit. so, hooray!! :) :)

so this title really doesn't fit. but i promised myself (and sister blood) i would use it. so there we go :) :)

thoughts from monday: "bringing our lives in line with God's will is a central purpose of our lives." (pmg) also, had a lovely dinner with r & h w ("wR what are you doing in hewe!!!!!!!") and it was wonderful. they are just so great. and i love them. and i'm adopting them into my millennial family <3 and it started me thinking this week that i don't have to be perfect yet.... sometimes i feel like dang, i'm a super old sister missionary, i only have 6 weeks left, i should be perfect now!! i should know how to do all the things!! i should be making 0 mistakes!! or at least only 1 a week or something!! but....... no. sadly friends, i'm making several mistakes a day still hahaha. i've learned, i've grown, but i haven't been perfected yet. but, that's okay. Jesus didn't even call Himself perfected until after He was resurrected, so there :) nah but seriously though. spiritual growth is a process. thank you pmg <3 (p. 126... i think)

tuesday we got to see the worsley's and i would just like to remind everyone that they are the greatest most full-time gospel livin' loving family ever, and that the gospel blesses families, and that if we live the gospel we will have happiness now & forever <3 <3 <3 also, i would like to announce that i learned how to say "the gospel blesses families" in portugese #languagestudy i regret to inform you, though, that i did not learn how to spell "the gospel blesses families" in portugese soo...... #nextweek

wednesday was TRANSFERS. and it was crazy and it was sad and it was tragic and it was fun and it was.... boring, after a while hahaha. but mostly crazy and funny and sad :) :) i said goodbye to my poor baby sister blood and put her on the fun bus, then talked to allllllllll the elders alllllll day long, literally waiting for like 5 or 6 hours at transfer point hahah. but, it was fun. good news: i got to see elder HERNANDEZ again!! he offered me a cookie and i told him i was gonna need a powerful invitation if i were actually going to act (me making fun of our mission focus from the past zone conference / making fun of him cause he just got made a zone leader) and he totally did it hahaha it was the funniest thing everrrrrrrrrrrr (#missionjokes) and i died. "why would it be important for you to know for yourself that this cookie is delicious? how do you think you would be able to find out?" etc etc etc #HILARITY #missionhumor. and then i asked if i could have another and he said that's like an investigator asking if they could come to church again! or read the Book of Mormon again! and then i ate three cookies. so that was basically wednesday :) also elders that i only semi-know took pictures with me. #old #celebrity? #thankskids #emailmein6weeks...... #;) also, found out that there is no word in hmong for when someone sneezes. NO WORD. they just sit there awkwardly. #THISISATRUEFACT. #thingsyoulearnattransferpoint  hm. that's all i can remember mostly. sister blood and i got starbucks and it was delicious. i love sister roylance AND sister ruiz #goodnews #triopower #wrotearaptogetherlastnight #threeisbetterthantwo  here is a sample of our rap: "three of us / two beds / one is on the floor / good news though / is that none of us snore" #grammysherewecome #airmattressfordays #feelslikecamping #itsweirdlyfun? :) :) also i forGOT to grab the air mattress so we were literally all the way to waukesha before i realized and then we had to turn around and go back to milwaukee #miles #problems #walkin...... also i realize that you have no idea where waukesha is. #whatever #wauke$ha:) so wednesday was decently fun.

thursday we had weekly planning!! ... alll dayyy longggggg hahaha i forgot how long it takes to explain a new area to new companions. but! it was good. they are great. they totes have great ideas and i kept forgetting they'd never met these people. it's gonna be great. trios = extra brain power :) :) :) also we have LANGUAGE STUDY now and i LOVE IT. i love learning portugese. i know like 3 words. but it's fun. and it's teaching me the gospel actually cause we read PMG in english while she reads it in portugese and try to follow along and sometimes the non-literal-translation teaches me something i never even thought of. so it's fun and great :) :) also, i love sister ruiz & sister roylance and i'm so happy they both are here with me :) :) they are great. friday night we were saying our tender mercies and this is what sister ruiz says: "coolest thing: so i saw this ice skating duck..." cue all of us collapsing in fits of laughter. probably so many of these things are not funny to you. but they are funny to me because i live in wisconsin and i sleep on the floor. so there. :) :) :) more sister ruiz-isms: "aw heck!" (in a new zealand accent? all the time) and "for sure!" to testify hahhahah. best moment: teaching in a trio. i teach something. no one knows whose turn it is. moment of awkward silence. sister ruiz: "for SURE!" hahahahahaha. :) :) #triopower also on friday we got to teach o and i love her, and she taught me part of the wisconsin fight song... "when you say wisconsin, you've said it all!" #yes #true ;) #weirdlyiaminlovewithwisconsin??? #ifeelitsfine :) :) AND we saw the cantrells and i love them. amanda is finna go on a mission and i am excited for her. step 1 = come to church hahah. we taught out of pmg ch 1, our purpose, and just asked her a few questions and i just felt the Spirit so so so strong and i love feeling the Spirit :) :) also, had one of those moments when you know that you're doing something right. we asked amanda why she wanted to go on a mission, and she talked about when she came to O's baptism and saw me & sister blood..."You just looked really really happy. I think that's what sparked it.":) :) :) :) :) :) :) oh, miss amanda. i am so so happy. i'm glad you could see it. the gospel is true happiness. this i know is true :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

also this is skipping ahead, but on sunday sister h asked us to come into primary and share our favorite primary song, and i was going to pick something else but then i changed my mind last second and picked "i hope they call me on a mission" because my mission is the happiest i have ever been in my whole entire life and everyone should have this happiness. and then i cried when they sang it to me hahaha. #sappy #getittogethersisterp ;)

also i would like to say that friday it was 50 degrees and i almost died of heatstroke.

#shoutouttosisterpugmirewhoisservinginfloridaandfreezingat50degrees ;) #love

saturday i ate a klondike bar on a china plate with a fork sooo... that was fun! #moments ;) also, comp studies with trios are fun. we get to learn so much!! sister ruiz totally matched up alma 23 to the Atonement of Jesus Christ and it was legit. #triopower :) :)

saturday got to teach the restoration out of the pamphlet and 1 Ne 11 and it was legit #lovethisgospel :) :) :)

friday, got some "spiritual vitamins" trying to volunteer at the YMCA (#stilldonthaveservice.... #ifeelitsnotfine) twO quotes:"God's work done God's way will never lack God's supply." "Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.):) #wrotetheminmyPMG :) :)

SUNDAY sunday sunday... always my favorite day :) :) but this one was extra EXTRA favorite ("they're both favorite" <3) B & J J spoke...... J just got back from his mission (early, medical reasons, tragic) and B is working on his papers. they are brothers. technically B didn't speak, they just called him up last minute to bear his testimony (haha, get it??) and i was like HOW DARE YOU because he talked about his big brother on a mission and how he was cool before and now he's super cool and i just CRIED ALL THE TEARS. seriously, crying so much. everyone was. it was suuuchh a good homecoming talk. it was good and it was tragic. he (j) had to come home early from his mission because his knees were acting up and so he talked about that and how it was the hardest thing he's ever had to do but how he knows that God has a plan... God had a plan for him to meet the people that he did in california, and God still has a plan for him now. and it was just..... really really good. <3 <3

also, miracle. as i alluded to earlier.... ever since about november/december, i've started getting really really PANIC-Y whenever people mention/talk about/bring up missionaries, missionaries going home, the special spirit only missionaries have, etc etc. so you might have imagined that yesterday's sacrament service would have been a panic fest for poor ol' sister proffit, right? well... it was not. miracle!! i actually felt really, really, really, really peaceful about everything. I don't feel stressed about coming home... I don't even feel like it's coming that soon. I'm not in denial, I'm not ignoring it, I just feel like when it comes, it'll come, and for now I'm just here to serve the Lord and give it my all and try my best until the end.... whenever that is :) :) So, it's a really really really good feeling hahaha. Not being in weird denial but not having in occupy my mind all the time??? #yessss #answertoprayers :) :) :) :) :) so, yay. :) :)

more good things about sunday: s came to church (literal MIRACLE, too good to be true, i kept expecting her to change her mind or be sleeping or not be dressed or for her car to break down or SOMETHING.... #butwhatoffaithJonah #missionjokesagain #seriouslythoughitwasamiracle) :) :)also we wrote an area rap. i mentioned this already. but it was really fun :) :)also, taught a family the story of Abish (Alma 19:17) and one of my beautifully spiritual companions asked, "why was it important for Abish to do this, instead of Ammon?" #goodquestion #inspiredquestion #triopower :) :) also, promised blessing in verse 36. #legit #lovetheBoM :) :)

well family, i guess that about raps it up this week...... i mean wraps it up hahaha #literalmistake #englishishard #LANGUAGESTUDY ;) ;) ;) okay but seriously. the trio is going great. thanks so much for all the prayers. keep 'em up hey? haha they're working really well for me.... :) :) we're hoping to have a fantastically great week next week. as per usual. :) i love this area. i love my companions. I LOVE MY MISSION. it is literally the happiest i have ever been in my whole entire life. these past 16 (or however many...) months have been punctuated with moments of pure, true, joy. it's been the greatest thing i've ever ever ever ever done. and i love it. :) :)

some favorite scriptures 'ere we part: Ether 3:18/Alma 26:30 -- "and all this, that this man might know that He was God" / "and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul... and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some." :) :)the work of salvation is about individuals :) :) ALL this is worth it for just one child of God :) :) :) :) :) :) :) i love it!!! i love, love, love, love, love you family :) :) :) this life is the greatest!! hard but good.... with moments of joy :) :) :)   can't wait to see you soon          xoxoxoxoxoxoxox               seester proffit :) :) :)

‘welcome to real life, my friend’

title quote courtesy of elder hernandez, ztm. story later :)

oh, family. so much happened this week!! well not actually that much, it just feels like it because we just got the TRANSFER INFORMATION and i'm feeling overwhelemed. but i'll try not to let it show to much ;)

SO MONDAY. we had breakfast for dinner with this couple in the ward who reminds me SO MUCH of gramma & grampa condie, so obviously i loved it. also breakfast is a great thing to feed missionaries because breakfast for us is usually a bagel and an apple or something lame like that. so it was nice :) :)

tuesday was zone training!! sooo fun. they just split our zone so it was actually weirdly small, but still fun. so fun fact, we drove the lake mills sisters to elkhorn, and we're on our merry way, when sister martin hands me a box and is like "guess what's in here?" me: "i dunno, like a willow tree statue or something?" "noooo.... it's for elder kadous....." "a ceramic cat?" "close!!!!!!!!!"  well long story short it was a cremated cat. yes family. i drove to elkhorn wisconsin with 3 sister missionaries and a cremated cat. quote from sister martin: "His name was Crash........ then he crashed and burned.........."#no.:) :) :) :) :)so that was a party. wooo-hoooo wisconsin!! :) :)

also, story time. elder hernandez and elder gifford are doing their area accountability, talking about their investigator who is IN A GANG and has to get GANG BEAT in order to leave the gang and join the church. me: "oh my gosh!!!!!!!! someone should call the cops!!!!!!!!!!!!" elder hernandez: "welcome to the real life, my friend." entire zone: ~outrageous laughter~ i'm serious though, somebody should call the cops........ #kenosha

also, elder phelps is great and i'm DEPRESSED that he's getting transferred and won't be my zone leader anymore because he is great. he always gets us pumped UP with his ztm testimony, but not because it's like intense or like aragorn-status but because it's just so sincere. and humble. and you're just like..... yes. i will do this. i will do this work of de Lord. and it will be amazing. he shared this scripture and now it's on our board :)
"Has the day of miracles ceased? Or have angels ceased to appear unto the children of men? Or has He withheld the power of the Holy Ghost from them? Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved? Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men." (moroni 7:35-37) :)
actually that kind of IS aragorn status. but in a different way. a spiritual-pump-up way :) :) :)

also tuesday was great 'cause i got to TESTIFY and that is my ultimate favorite thing :) :) alma 7:11-12. Helaman 5:11. truth truth truth out of the earth, my friends :) :) :) oh and also, after ztm we caravaned it over to americana for some classy mexican food / baby-sized burritos (see pictures...) and since all mission cars legit look the same........ it was weird. #silver2014s #thisiswhypeoplethingwereacult ;)

WEDNESDAY we got to go to the doctor!! hooray!! :) :) also, thanks for all your prayers for sister blood..... she is feeling much much much MUCH better things week, which we ascribe to prayers and faith and miracles and medicine :) :) :) we saw the most wonderful little asian dr. y, who told sister blood "do nothing. limp. like noodle." when she was running some tests hahaha :) :) also we went to walgreens and the pharmacist legit looked like the bad guy from phineas & ferb. and we got a "5 wishes" packet to start our ADVANCE DIRECTIVE and i'm excited :) :) :) hahahaha. i'll show it to you when i get home ;) HILARIOUS. sister blood + sister proffit at the doctors = lotttsssssss of giggling hahaha. also, fun fact: doctors do not appreciate sassy side comments. who knew? ;) haha

thursday was s and my lovely friends the c whom i love <3

friday we got to teach my lovely friends the m and i love them <3 and when br. m said the opening prayer he prayed, "bless our beloved sisters" and i was like awwwwww :) :) :)

in other news, missionary work is hard when you have the hiccups. "you(hic!)'re gonna ha(hic!)ve to take th(hic!)is door....." ;)

we also had dinner with the s and it somehow descended into a joke fest, ending with the kids making up their own jokes. my personal favorite: m: "what did the crops say to the farmer?" c:"i can hear you?" ..................... hahahahahahaha. basically it was just a jolly good time and we're finna teach their neighbor so yay :) :) :) also at that dinner there was a perfect execution of the "control freak" knock-knock joke, me to sister blood...... hahaha. sis b: "I KNOW how to tell a knock knock joke!!!!!!!!!" hahahahaha :) :) i'm gonna miss her so so much!!!!!!!!

also, we sang to elder kadous. "pat his cheeks and give him whaaat? a great... book of mormon!!" ;) #elderfriends

saturday morning we got the dreaded transfer text...... and my beloved sister blood is leaving :( :( :( :( :( i mean, we knew it was coming....... but still :( :( also, this transfer scenario is CRAY. "heh HEH!!" ~ president to us ;)

saturday an osmond miracle happened. ARE YOU READY.~us, in the car, listening to "close every door" [an excellent missionary song...]~let's go try j t!~~knock knock~ "oh sisters! come in! i was just listening to donny osmond! weird, every time i listen to him the missionaries show up!" ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............. hahahahaha

first of all, every time someone does one of those "everytime [x] happens, the missionaries show up!" i'm like "WHAT IF WE HADN'T SHOWN UP????????????" also, donny? yes. :) :) :) :) :)so that was fun haha. we finna come back and teach her and her en-tire family :) :) :) quotes: "there are no better friends than osmond friends."[teenage son]: "are you talking about donny osmond again?" hahahahaher: "the girls from church are here!"[non-member husband]: "i know, i saw them coming so i hid in the garage." hahaha. #atleastyourehonest ;) also, she's the queen of the wisconsin accent and i love it. i studied ch. 7 of pmg this week (surprisingly great!) and now i'm working on a list of things i love about wisconsin culture. hahaha. it's been a blast :) :)

#1: [technically this is not culture but it's still a wisconsin thing and i love it] BOSTON CREAM FROZEN CUSTARD FROM CULVERS. actually chocolate eclair is my ULTIMATE favorite flavor but boston cream is basically the same thing but with out the puff pastry :) :) :) :) :) :) #YUM also i love sister blood probably about as much as i love chocolate eclair frozen custard, or perhaps slightly more ;) i love companions <3 <3 <3 weirdly we think the same thoughts. at the same time. #3months? #togetherforever also shout-out to eliza bean bishop for sending me a beautiful SCARF and letter this week :) :) :) :) i love it :) :)

good news, it's in the 40s!! weirdly it feels SO MUCH like seattle weather right now and i'm LOVING it :) :) :)

sunday sunday sunday. come and gone again. my favorite day of the week always :) :) :)

quotes:[a j was sitting in the pew behind us reading a talk just before sacrament meeting]"detours are costly; they must be shunned." ~president monsoon "but at least we're given an opportunity to pay the cost." ~ a. :) the j are SO cool, i can't wait to tell you more about them when i come home :) :)

reading 1 Thessalonians 5:8-28 in gospel principles... which is actually REALLY great and not that long so you all should read it :) :) talking about what it means to be of a sober mind -- a says basically it means nothing altering your thought process, not being in panic mode. which i thought was cool :)

thought that came to me at church: it's one thing to worship God on your own, and another thing entirely to do it in a gathering of imperfect people....... aka church ;) there must be something to it! God's commandments are all to make us happier and better and stronger and more like Him :) :) :)

pmg greatness: "God gives us commandments for our benefit. They are instructions from a loving Father in Heaven to help us have happy lives... Heavenly Father knows our weaknesses and is patient with us. He blesses us as we strive to obey His commandments." :)

quote from relief society lesson: "if you err in judgement, be sure you err on the side of love & mercy" <3

quote from j m (whom i would like to adopt into my family): "repentance isn't about changing Heavenly Father's view of us, it's about changing us!" :)

i would like to say that i LOVE THE M & O SO SO SO SO MUCH <3 <3 <3 they are my bffs. br. m reminds me of corey (brower). :) and they are just gems, all of them <3 we had dinner & a lesson with them and o on sunday, reading out of 1 Ne 16 (which i love!!!!!) and it was great. laughed sooooooooo hard (at dinner) and felt the spirit soooooooo much :) :) :)

Book of Mormon sharing this week is a tie between 1 Ne 16:8 & 1 Ne. 16:29

v.8 : "And thus my father had fulfilled all the commandments of the Lord which had been given unto him. And also, I, Nephi, had been blessed of the Lord exceedingly." boom. true principle. easy as that. and Nephi recognized the blessings that had come and that increased & strengthened his faith for next time :) :)

v. 29: "And there was also written upon them a new writing, which was plain to be read, which did give us understanding concerning the ways of the Lord; and it was written and changed from time to time, according to the faith and diligence which we gave unto it." totes about the Book of Mormon. in my opinion. :) every time i open that book, i swear there's something new that i've never ever read before. it gives me understanding concerning the ways of the Lord!!! and that is a HUGE benefit to me. i just love it!!!!!!!!!!! never ever ever ever ever getting over it :) :) :)

okay family. almost done, i promise :)

props to sister blood for following spiritual promptings. Scenario we pull up to the m house at 5:29. appointment is at 5:30. sister blood: "..... should we go see if b's home?" (potential that lives 2 doors down) me: ".....quench not the Spirit?" (1 thess. 5:19) ;)so we did. and he was! and we're going back on friday and we prayed with him. so, good news, when you follow spiritual promptings blessings happen!! haha. i was grateful for 1) sister blood, 2) the Spirit (not in that order necessarily....;)) 3) being able to pray for someone who needed it. :) :) i love this gospel!!!

also we finna teach o's friend s soon. #yes :) :)

well well well. another email almost done. time for my weekly feelings update i guess ;)

sister blood is leaving. i am sad. i'm gonna be in a TRIO, which is cray..... i have 6 weeks left, which is ROLLERCOASTER. sometimes i'm excited and sometimes i'm devastated hahaha. it's a tricky road to walk and it's a hard balance. but it's also so so good. i'm open to any and all advice you may have hahaha. good news: the gospel is true. it has been restored. Jesus Christ lives. He's ready & waiting & anxious to help us. God gives us tender mercies every single day. He is our Father. He has plan for our happiness :) :)

and that is the best darn news that i can think of Jlove you bunches!!!!!!!!!! have a great week :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
