the sun is shining! the grass is green! and we are getting out of --

Well today was unexpectedly wonderful.

Monday night I was unhappy because I had soOoOOO much to do and not enough time and everything was going to be so harddddd and take soooo longgggg and I didn't waannnttttt toooooo because I am a loooooooserrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Um. It was not hard. It did not take long. And I am a champion at life.

I'm not sure why I always fuh-REAK out because it ALWAYS turns out fine. and if it doesn't, it ends and that's the end of it. So it's no. big. deal.

Today, it took me 4 hours to neatly collect 3 A's on my final exams. Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
Way super easier than I expected. I love that. I feel like a bona fide genius. Go me! :)

And alsoooooo when I left the house it was kinda rainy and kinda windy and kinda cold....  but now the sun is out and warm (but not hot!) and that beautiful spring smell is in the air again. So THAT is ALSO wonderful!!

And I saw my friend that I haven't seen in a superlongtimeeventhoughwegotothesameschool and I remembered that I love her. Again, wonderful :) :)

And basically, I am just a champion at life and all things life-related.

I am become Cecelia, the destroyer of finals.

Notice my Samuri bun and excited face.

wouldn't you know it...

this is me at my high school graduation, circa ten months ago.

this is me when I first started here at the university

and this is me, just a couple of days ago.

Wow. Weird to think that it's already been that long, and that in a couple of days I will be done with my first year of college. A year out of high school. A year of college complete. And where has it brought me?

Umm...... gimme a minute. :)

weekend that was wonderful :)

My wonderful family came down to visit me and to come to conference and see some other various family members. It was lovely :)
We had a few extra tickets so my roommates joined us for a session.
This was our view
Clearly sitting next to my brother in the Conference Center was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to me. And yes we are aware of the myspace-style-ness of the second picture. That was on purpose :)

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood :)

Today is a beautifully sunny day! Amazing what that does for my mood :) I grew up in one of the rainiest places in America, so I like the rain and it doesn't get me down. But today was the most wonderful spring day and it just put me in the happiest mood ever! I love the sun and not wearing a jacket and finally getting my capris out of storage and the lovely little breeze that keeps me from getting too hot. It's just a beautiful beautiful day. Like Utah is saying, "Stay a little longer, you'll like it here." :) Sorry... I prefer a Washington summer. But today Utah, you are just perfect :)
it was so lovely i wore my favorite yellow shoes :)
In other awesome news, my family is going to be here with me tomorrow. I'm so excited to see them! They are my best best friends :) :) aaaaaand we're going to conference! Which is going to be fabulous.

look at how pretty my school is today :)

Also, April Fool's Day is tomorrow, a holiday that ranks somewhere between Christmas and my birthday on my list of all-time favorite days :) And my lovely family will be here for that wonderful celebration. How exciting :)

And I finished my paper last night. My personal narrative. Even though I had no idea what to write about until approximately 2:45am. I wrote it, and it actually doesn't suck. It's not the best ever, but I'm kinda sorta proud of it. Just a little. :) Also I got an 'A' on my research paper. So I'm kind of feeling like a rock star today :)

Andddd it's the end of my school week, which means I have survived yet another week of school and am that much closer to being home for the summer. Even though I'm really starting to enjoy it here... still. It'll be good. Because life is so good :) and today I feel like a classy confident and capable college student who can do anything and is not a loser, but a winner. And you are a winner as well. You look great today, btw. :)

awkward walking-and-taking-a-picture-of-
yourself-with-a-cell-phone picture hahaha :)

And I actually did the hair and makeup thing today, so I don't look like a scrub and I kind of like myself :)

And I'm listening to music that I like. :)

And I'm about to go to my favorite class ever.

And I just really like my life today :) :)

Aaaaaaand that's all I guess. It's just a beautiful wonderful day in the neighborhood. I hope you have a lov-e-ly day! :) :)

this picture is really awkward hahaha

elevator adventures

Elevators are weird. They're like boxes... that you get in... and then they move you. I dunno, does anyone else think that's weird? I think they're just really.... weird.
Also, I always check for creepers before I get into an elevator. Just in case.
I don't usually ride them. Unless I don't feel like taking the stairs that day. Which is usually the case if it's more than one flight. I don't like to get out of breath and sweaty when I could just ride up in a convenient metal box.
Anyways, normally I am alone in the elevator. But sometimes, I am not. And those are the times where my heart just stops whenever the elevator makes a noise - because how awkward would it be to be trapped in an elevator with a stranger? What are you supposed to do? Make awkward conversation? I am terrible at small talk. By myself, I would just text someone. But if someone else were there I would feel rude... and uncertain.
And awkward.

ask me the most basic question: what do i eat.

Don't judge. This morning I was despairing because I don't know what to write a personal narrative on because it has to show growth and I'm not very good at that sort of thing.... and then I realized I was hungry so I poured a little bowl of cheerios. And then another one. And as I was gazing at the lovely yellow box on the table I remembered my giant love for cheerios and especially for milk... and that is what spawned this post. So don't mind me, and pardon my morning appearance, I'm just showing you my fridge and cupboard contents :)

cheerios always made me happy when I was a little girl,
and they continue to do so today :)

I also buy knock-off-knock-off bagged cereal. it's the cheapest.
the raisin bran is so that I can pretend to be healthy.

I LOVE MILK.

grocery shopping, pt 2 :)

awkward grocery store moments :)

1) Willing a woman not to buy the 75cent dinner rolls by whispering "don't buy ‘em, don't buy ‘em, put ‘em back, put ‘em back" until she went away.

2) Yelling to Lyndy that there were 75c dinner rolls and to come buy them before someone else did. {She was a few aisles away.}

3) Talking to the self-check machine, like I always do, telling it to be quiet, and the worker coming over to check on me. Oh no, I’m fine... no, thanks though, yeah I'm fine.

4) Describing to Alannah how exactly fiber works at cleaning out your bowel and then noticing the two boys nearby, laughing at us. She wanted to know!

‎5) Being really hungry and so opening my lemon yogurt, but then not having a spoon and so using the tin foil lid and feeling like I was eating trash.

6) Not being able to steer my shopping cart whilst licking my tin foil lid/spoon and so awkwardly almost running into this random lady who looked at me like I was dumb... it's really hard to lick and steer.

:) I'm going to miss these grocery store excursions :)

cleaning.

Today was cleaning check day. I hate this day. I am actually terrible at cleaning. So once a month, a crabby lady comes around to tell me so. {Actually she's pretty nice, but it makes me feel better to call her crabby.} More often than not, I fail the check and have to pay a $5 fee, which in my impoverished college-student state I cannot afford. So today, I was determined not to fail. My assignment was to clean the bathroom. Not knowing where to start, I attacked the bathtub with every chemical I could find, which happened to include Shout! stain removal. When my roommate got home, she laughed and told me it was for cleaning clothes. Well. No one told me.
I also considered using mouthwash, but didn't. I was hoping that the cleaning lady would be overpowered by the chemical-y smell and at least know that I had tried. Maybe then she would take pity on me.
As it turned out, I passed! Take that, cleaning lady. I cleaned that tub like nobody's business. Got down and scrubbed it. Yeah.
Anyways, only one cleaning check remains until I am free of this apartment, for which I am grateful.

As a side note, terrible as I am at the basics of cleaning, I am basically pro at plunging a toilet, a skill that has proven invaluable as our toilet breaks down at least once every few weeks. {Read the story of the original flood here.}
So thanks, Mom and Dad, for teaching me how the be the greatest toilet plunger in the apartment. I may be helpless at cleaning bathrooms and scrubbing ovens, but I can fix any darn toilet in the complex.

And I'm sorry for spending my entire senior year insisting that I already knew how to clean and didn't need to practice.

you were right.

desperate times...

Today i walked a mile in the snow to get a mcchicken, fries, and a mcflurry. It had to happen. I was dying. And when we finally got there I was so excited that I was running and jumping and making excitement sounds.

They only have super spicy mcchickens here in this crazy state, which is a tad upsetting, since they light my mouth on fire. Still good though. Just drink lots of water.

Best idea of my life: peanut m&m mcflurry. Why do these things not exist yet? I don't know. But i want them to. So much want.

shopping

Lyndy and I just bought 80 biscuits. Because they were 10 for $10.... but only if you bought ten cans. Otherwise we would've had to pay $2.19 per can! And we really wanted biscuits. At a good price. So we bought. Eighty. Biscuits.

~The ensuing apartment conversation~

Lyndy: I don't think you've seen the fridge, it looks like we're prepared for a nuclear bomb... if nothing survived a nuclear bomb.. but biscuits?? {We later dubbed this event, the Biscopalypse.}

Me: WE ARE SO PREPARED. We're just getting started on our year's supply of food!! Follow the prophet, yo :) :)

Lyndy: If only we had bought TWENTY DOLLARS of biscuits we prolly coulda lasted til spring semester..

Me: Yeah but then they would have expired!!! This way, we've got until Christmas :) :)

Lyndy: Too true... after thanksgiving we'll stock up again.

Alannah: Why do I have a feeling that if there was a nuclear bomb, you wouldn't share your biscuits with me?

Me: WE WOULD NOT SHARE.

Lyndy: Maybe you'll think twice when we offer to split a 10 for 10 deal, Alannah..

//

2/14/11 EDIT: We now all hate biscuits. The smell makes us nauseous. I hate them with all of my stomach. So. Vomitous.

how to stem a flood.

Once upon a time, I was sleeping in my bed. At the absurdly early hour of 8:30am, my roommate wakes me up in a panic because “There’s a flood in the bathroom!!!” I was extremely confused, because I was still basically asleep. I told her to just fix it, but she said “No I need your help!!!”
When I finally got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, it was FLOODED. COMPLETELY. FULL OF WATER. The water was starting to lap out of the bathroom and on to the carpet. In the actual toilet area there was about an inch and a half of standing water. And the toilet was SPEWING WATER. overflowing, and squirting. I did not know this was possible.
So I just stood there, really confused and still trying to wake up while my roommate freaked out. Eventually she waded over to the toilet, (luckily it was clean water,) and I told her to lift the top off and fix it. Which worked, sort of. It stopped the overflow but the toilet was still spewing. And my blankie was getting wet.
After a while the spewing stopped too; I forget how.
So then I went back to sleep, basically abandoning my roommate, but I was tired. I had to wake up like 30 minutes later to go to school, so that was dumb. And as I was walking through the living room to get my breakfast, I walked through a puddle. In the carpet. squish squish. yucky. We’re still not sure how it got there because it was dry all around and not even close to the bathroom. What the heck. And I kept forgetting it was there and walking through it again. Disgusting.
While I was asleep, my roommate had mopped up most of the water in the bathroom with rugs and towels.
Then we were late for class…. so we left.

I'm at the library right now.

I hope all my stuff is alright.

The end.
sorry alannah. ♥ :)

awkward moments of the day

-singing "i'm feelin like a star you can't stop my shine!" out loud (on accident) in the library and then having people stare.

-the pakistani man sitting next to me in the library falling asleep, then snoring, then drooling. while still sitting up in his chair. what exactly am i supposed to do in that situtation??!?

-the lady in the testing center saying "good luck on your test" and me replying "thanks you too..." then standing there awkwardly before running away with my test.

yep.

awkward moments forever.

football game: the first

This game was par.tic.u.lar.ly exciting because we were playing the UW Huskies, my home state team and the school a lot of my friends were going to. We had been trash talking for weeks haha. Also the Huskies' coach used to play for BYU, and BYU's quarterback Jake Heaps had been offered a scholarship by the Huskies but chose BYU instead. So it was a pret.ty intense game :)
sooo excited!!
we had great seats :)

it was so hot!
sorryyy washington :)

so fun!

my new apartment :)

my window is the sketchiest scariest thing of my life. it like, dosesn't close all the way and when the wind blows it sounds like someone is trying to get in. and it's right next to my head.
also, my bedroom door is the loudest door ever in the history of the world and it sticks when you open/close it all the way.
while annoying, i am thinking that this could be a good thing, as it will make it extremely difficult for the rapists to sneak in.
see the good in everything :) :)

"Oh I love your door but hate your window sounds like it would cause me fear. Door could be bad in case the rapist did break in and the door was jammed shut. But luckily you would have pajamas on thus making the rapist frustrated and leave. :)" --Arthur Pennock
