LES MISERABLES

20 years ago my parents went and saw Les Miserables on stage. I was in the womb at the time. Ever since then it has been my dream to see it performed live and on stage. TONIGHT MY DREAM CAME TRUE.

I started crying as soon as I heard the first notes.
I've read the book twice and listened to the soundtrack more times than I can count. One of my earliest musical memories is of sitting on my bed at about age 4 listening to mom vacuum to "The Work Song."
It was every bit as wonderful as I dreamed it would be
Mom and I held hands the entire time. :)

The Story of Cece and the Bully

Once upon a time, when I was in kindergarten, there was a bully. He was in third grade. He told me once that he was going to punch me so hard I would "fart out my mouth and talk out my butt." I said "...okay" and walked away.
But anyways, I told my mom about this, and we read the Friend magazine and talked about what Jesus would do and how the bully probably didn't have any friends so maybe I should ask if he wanted to be friends.
So I did. I climbed up on the playset {which was third-grader territory} and asked the bully if he wanted to be friends. He looked at me funny, said he already had friends, and then I think he called me a mean name and pushed me off the slide. So I walked back to my friends and played hopscotch.
And then he brought a knife to school and got expelled or suspended or something.
And I went on to become successful and brilliant and beautiful.
The end :)

early morning adventures

today at 6am i realized that the delta logo is a DELTA. like alpha beta gamma delta. triangle. like an airplane. only it's a delta. and my aunt just pointed out that delta means change.
this is just blowing my whole world.
you know how when you find something out and it just changes everything? the way i pronounce delta in my head is different now.
so. mind-altering.

in other news, the stewardness gave me an entire can of ginger ale to myself (normally they just fill up a cup with ice [like, FULL of ice] and add a few drops of soda) but today i got the whole can, AND double cookies because i said they were delicious.

i also went through the full body scanner that sees you naked. i felt like a spy. it was kind of awesome.

the moral of the story is always be nice to the people with cookies.

and so concludes the early morning adventures of cece.

i can save a life

Giving blood is at once the coolest and most terrifying thing of my life. Part of me insists that my blood should stay inside my body where it belongs, and that it’s too painful, and that someone else can give blood today because I’m too scared*

But at the same time, I can’t deny that giving blood is probably the only time I will ever have the opportunity to save a life, ever. And it’s so easy! Admittedly not pain-free, but since when is anything worth doing done without some sacrifice? Compared to rescuing someone from a burning building or pushing someone out of the way of a speeding vehicle, giving blood is really. easy. And it saves lives, just the same.

(Side-note: I wear my arm bandage like it's a badge of courage and honor. Maybe making too big of a deal of out it, but hey. It was scary for me.)

And while I may not have that many opportunities to perform CPR or the Heimlich maneuver on someone, I can give blood every eight weeks. It only costs me a little bit of time, and a tiny bit of pain. And really, I can handle that. For next-to-nothing, I get to feel sort of like a hero.  I can feel like maybe my existence on earth made someone else’s existence a little bit better. I can do my part to contribute to the general well-being of mankind. I may not be a firefighter or a nurse or a doctor, but I can do this one thing.

At least that’s what I tell myself, as I sit nervously in the hard plastic waiting chair.

The cookies and juice help a lot too. Yummy.

*Reading through the list of things that can disqualify a person from donating made me realize that not just everyone can give blood. Actually only about 38% of Americans are eligible to donate - and less than 10% do. One more reason I’m glad I’ve lived the life I have, and what a good reason to keep living it.

let's discuss my medical history, shall we?

I cracked my arm bone in elementary school but didn't get a cast because my mother didn't believe me and so didn't take me to the hospital until a month later when it still hurt. and it had already fixed itself {mostly} so I just got an arm brace.

My sophomore year of high school, my mother tricked me into having toe surgery. Literally tricked me. Lied to me about why we were going to the doctor. I believed her up until the nurse took me to the room labeled SURGERY. thanks mom.

Later that year I fell down the stairs and got a concussion... that was exciting.

Wisdom teeth removal senior year... thought I was going to die. I did not die {barely}.

And now I have broken my foot.
The first of this month I hurt my foot at a friend's house, but I didn't think it was that bad so I drove home. Now a week later it still kinda hurts and is bruised pretty badly so I just went to the doctor's.... oh. It's broken. And all the doctors think I'm an idiot/liar when I tell them I was just walking and I fell. and broke it. on some stairs. cement ones.
But it's the truth.
yay me! :)
But it really doesn't hurt that bad and I don't even get a cast, just a shoeboot thing for sympathy purposes. Not too much walking, & wear the boot for a month.

Yay, memories! :)

the awkwardest thing that ever happened to me and was documented and posted to the internet.

Preface: I spent a week in a cabin with my three best friends. Stayed up late, slept in past noon. Practically got hypothermia swimming in the lake. Got really sunburnt. Chased 2 muskrats named Rattigan & Cece. Ate lunch on the roof. Took fail to a new level playing horseshoes and volleyball. Won 4089 m&ms playing blackjack. Went boating. Laid out on the dock. Walked past a hobo's lair. Went for a midnight dip. It was the perfect start to the summer :)

On the drive home............................

We see some guy with a camera, taking pictures of us!! He holds up a sign to the window with a blog address. So a few weeks later, we check it out. This is what we found.

QUOTE: "Okay - now - here's the scoop, so we passed this car full of girls just outside of Medical Lake. The driver, she's looking thrilled. The passengers are all asleep or in their own little worlds."

 "as I was saying... snoozerville."

"Now - let's get the party started...they found our photo project funny apparently."
// YEAH we did you crazy!!!

here's a story for ya......

yesterday i was weeding... and i saw a little baby shrew thing!! and it was so cute. and also scary because it ran all around and over my feet, and so i tried to catch it and give it a good home, but it kept running away, but then i finally caught it and it was wriggly and it kept trying to escape and i had to recapture it a few times... and then i finally caught it and i couldn't think of anywhere to put it so i put it in this bucket that i saw... that turned out to be full of water, so i felt SO bad for almost drowning my poor baby shrew so i fished it out and saved it and i said i was sorry and that i loved it but THEN it BIT me on the thumb!! luckily i was wearing gloves so it just like pinched the rubber. but it was still scary so i dropped it. and it scampered away and i chased after it... but it was gone and i never saw it again.

and at the end of all this, my family had been watching me. and jacob said "you looked and sounded a lot like arthur when you were doing that."

i'll take that as a compliment :) :)

story of my life.

once upon a time we didn't have a teacher in sunday school so (instead of being responsible church-goers and joining another class) we played hangman. but we used church words to make it okay. anyways we were playing and i was guessing... and on the board was:
S A V I O _
...and i could not think of what it was. because all i could hear in my head was savi-o and i kept thinking of pasta and italian mob bosses. so i gave up, and i lost, and everyone laughed at me.

the end.
