....
but there's nothing unnatural….about my love for you!!! :) :) :) hahahahaha.
that is my valentines poem for the year, of which i am SO proud...... :) last
night we had dinner with a person who works for the company who makes all the
colors of anything ever. and he informed me that there is no natural way to
obtain the color blue. and that just got my creative juices flowin ;) hahaha.
:) :) :) #illbemyownvalentinethisyear ;)
good
news family! i remembered my planner this week! #noveltime :) :)
things
i forgot last week were mostly just scriptures that i like. 3 Ne.18:23 because it reminds me
of that giant thing in the sand that eats people from Star Wars VI. Romans
10:14-15 because it's legit. Mormon 5:18/Ether 12:4 because we've recently
resurrected the anchor lesson, shout-out to Sister Ciarra Butler for that one
:) :) and Jeremiah 20:9 because it's epic.
i
would now like to give you a peek into my life by sharing a series of quotes
from this past weeks district meeting:
"modern-day
miracles, people. it's not just with the seagulls in 18-whatever."
"the
point is, we all have access to spiritual bagpipes, to drown out the voice of
satan. whaaaaaaaaaa.........." [bagpipe noise]
"if
you don't have the Holy Ghost, you're not a missionary. Boom."
"before
my mission, walkin down the street i was like, yeah that's a person, that's a
person.... but now i'm like, i freakin love all these people!!!!!"
"faith
and hope together are like a giant centrifuge of missionary power."
:)
:) #lovethedistrict
something
i wish i would've started doing earlier is writing down great/funny quotes in
the sides of my pmg. i love it hahah :) :)
also,
on tuesday miss o had her
baptism interview and we were showing her how to get baptized... (we showed her
a clip from the district haha) and then the member was like "plug your
nose!" and she was like "okay!" and he was like "no i'm
serious. the water will rush into your lungs, and you WILL drown. plug your
nose." #intensity #shepluggedhernose :)
okay
family. i am going to buckle down and write this letter now.
#blameitontheaddbaby
this
is a true statement: sometimes things are not always fun. and days are cold and
no one is home and satan is a dummy. but if you put a smile on and FAKE IT....
and talk in a british accent with your companion all day.......... and
sometimes accidentally slip into it in public............. and are friends with
your companion who is lovely and great............ you can make it through and
even be HAPPY :) :) :) so THA'T'S awesome, right????? :) :) :) i shall be my
friend, even if no one else is. and sister blood. and Jesus. ;)
wednesday we taught the m and i
love them. even though they are just....... so...... funny and old. and
stubborn. hahaha. i am going to LOVE THEM into this gospel and the greatest
part is, it's not even hard, i really do love them!! :) :) :) (they're the ones
who gave me a baby-sized bag of m&ms, btw.) :) good news: the Book of
Mormon is LITERALLY buried treasure (thank you elder q via sister butler) and
is pure gold and all i everrrr want to do is read it with people. fail-proof.
for real. :) :) also i have learned that 3 Ne. 11:1-17 is a journey. a journey
from not-knowing to knowing. and i love it. and, in the words of elder clark, "conversion
is a journey you take yourself." and it's the best journey, people. so
take it. and read 3 Ne 11:1-17. because it's ze best :) :) :)
thursday............. was a
tornado of drama that through me into a tailspin of emotional angst. hahaha. is
that dramatic enough for you?? ;) here is what happened:
*sister
proffit and sister blood coming home to weekly plan*
sister
proffit: i hope we have mail today!
*sister
blood checks the mail and pulls out a huge white envelope*
*sister
proffit realizes it's from the mission office and her heart plunges into
despair because she knows what it is and she's been dreading this day since the
start of the transfer*
*charlie
brown music starts playing* "waaaaaa-waa waaaaaaaaaaaaa.... waaaaa
waaaaaaaaa........"
*sister
proffit hangs her head and shlumps up the stairs holding the envelope*
-
we enter the apartment –
*sister
proffit opens it and throws the papers around the room* "no, no, no, no,
definitely not!"
*sister
proffit starts washing dishes with great vigor*
*sister
blood starts reading sister proffit's mail*
okay
i'll spare you the rest of the play-by-play hahaha. basically, i got my trunky
papers. (we're probably not supposed to call them that but oh well.) and what
it is is a packet of letters from the mission office, one from president that's
like "endure to the end! start setting goals for the first year after your
mission!" (my heart: "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!") and
then TRAVEL TIPS ("NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!") and then a letter
that's like "you miiiiiiiiiiiiight have tuburculosis so you should
probably get tested for that asap when you get home" hahahahah.
TUBURCULOSIS.
the
ridiculousness of everything and the reality of how OLD i am kind of threw me
for a loop. it was a weird rest of the day. i cried. two tiny tears. about pine
needles. (remember when i cried about mis-matching spoons?? it was that kind of
a day.... hahaha) (also there are still pine needles on our carpet.
#nevergetalivetree.)
but
good news. i survived. and how weird that thursday was jakey's first full day, nathy's year
mark, and my...... tuburculosis papers day. hahaha. man, you are champion
parents. that's all i've got to say. :) :)
also,
fun fact: when you get a carwash and it's 9 degrees outside, the side-mirrors
freeze. #dumb :)
let's
see. what else.
oh!
a tender mercy from the Lord in the form of J J. he's home from his mission
right now for medical reasons but he's headed back soon (hopefully) but while
he's heeeeeereeeeeeeeee he is the CHAMPION MEMBER-PRESENT OF ALL TIME. and we
are totally using and abusing him hahaha but he's cool with it. seriously, best
member-present ever. love it. aaaaaaand, it's giving me hope for the future
hahah. becaaaaaauseeee (obviously) i've been stressing about home-time. and
i've decided to stop it asap, but something that is helping is knowing that
okay, i can just go home and be like j. and it'll be okay. it's nice :) :) but
right now i can just focus on right now. and not even think or worry about it
:) :)
so
anyways. we brought j with us to teach our friend s. AND WE TOTALLY FELT THE
SPIRIT so we knew the Lord was pleased :) :) (pmg 11). and it was delicious.
and we read the Book of Mormon (obvi) about the plan of salvation and she was
like "thaaaaaaaaat's what's in this book?? okay now i totally want to read
it!!!" um, yes. you should've been. but that's okay. :) :) also, it was
like suuuuuuuuuuuch a classic plan of salvation lesson with her asking questions
like, "but what about people who never got to hear about Christ?"
ohhhhh s. we are GETTING there :) :) :) :) #loveit
I
would like to say that i love Alma 31:32-38 because it is a primo example of
the prayer of faith. boom baby. pmg ch. 4. also, alma 31 is two prayers, neatly
laid out on opposite pages for us to more easily compare them. how nice of God.
:) :) :)
so
Friday was a good day after
all. and I remembered that I love this :)
AND
THEN IT WAS SATURDAY. and O got baptiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizedddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
:) :) :) :) aaaaaaand i love her. and she was a bright star in my life
throughout this week of crazy. and we got to clean her house and teach her the
gospel and i just love her :) :) it was sooooooooooooooo stupidly cute, there
were more people at her baptism than there usually are at sacrament meeting.........
haha. and b m gave the talk on the Holy Ghost and he called her his unofficial
older sister and i died. because it was so cute. (they m's are the family next
door to o who had a youth activity at their house and then invited o and
introduced her and loved her) :) :) aaaaand i just loved it. i sent pictures
home :) :) it was a party. of love and Spirit and covenants :) :) and yesterday
she got confirmed and told us she felt like she was floating :) :)
quote
from o as we were cleaning her house: "you guys are the best
missionaries........ and not just cause you're cleaning my house......."
hahah :) :)
also
on saturday i got new great music
and we danced in the snow. and it looked like glitter in the sky and i was
happy. :) :) and we went to Culver's and ate chocolate eclair frozen custard
because that is their greatest flavor and it just so happened to be the flavor
of the day. and it was delicious. #imabutterburgerbaby ;)
and
i love sister blood for always putting up with me hahah :) :)
miracle
of Sunday = this: Sister C P!
from Racine!! she's in the stake primary presidency so she came to visit Kettle
and she remembered meeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! which, hello, it's been a year since i
left racine and i was only there for 3 months! but she totally saw my nameteg
on my coat and remembered me and we hugged and hugged and it was a glorious
reunion and i am SO looking forward to the celestial kingdom of God because
glorious reunions for days up there :) :) :) :) :) :) :) anyways. it was
tender. and it got me to thinking about how i forget sometimes what it feels
like to be known and cared about for being YOU, not just a sister missionary.
it's what i signed up for, and it comes in handy sometimes cause it gets you in
doors (sometimes.........;)) and starts friendships, but it can also feel like
you're interchangeable and replaceable. which i've kind of gotten used to haha.
so it's nice when somebody remembers me by name and cares about ME.
so often i'm just "sister" or "missionary," but when i'm
called by my name it feels good :) and then i realized that God knows me by
name!! He knows all of us by name. When He appeared to Joseph Smith, He
called him by name. When we see Him again, He will call us by name.
Think about it. it feels good :) :) :) He knows my name. I'm not
interchangeable or replaceable to Him. and neither are you :) :) :) He knows
us! Hooray!! :) :)
and
then Sunday night we had dinner
with the A and engaged in a conversation that launched the birth of this
email's titular poem. and it was hilarious. and i laughed so much. titanium
dioxide is in all our food. i'm never eating oreos again.
and
sister a bought me little applesauces from woodman's cause she knows i like
them :) :)
well
family... i guess that's it! three cheers for making it to the end of this
email hahaha believe it or not i did leave some stuff out ;) i love you all to
the moon & back. i love my mission. sometimes days are hard and things are
lame. but we keep marching on, and at the end of the day, i'm always always
happy :) :) :)
roses
are red
the
Book of Mormon is blue
the
gospel''s restored
and
I love you :)
:)
