that's what sister silva said she's
heard about me hahaha. so wooooooo-hooooo whatever that means........ hahaha :)
:)
this week has been so so great!! i
have so many things to tell you!!! hopefully i remember them all....
FIRST of all, things i forgot from
last week:
ordering a pizza on monday while we
were at the church. pizza man: "what's the first name?" me:
"Sister." "sister?" "....yes." "okay......
and is this address a private home or an apartment?" "it's a church..."
and then he just started laughing hahahaha. #goodtimes #goodpizza :) :)
also, M H FROM EVANSTON. is the
elder's quorum president here!!!! and he says he knows y'all. whaaaat?????
also, he is AWESOME. like the greatest eqp of all time. it's whatever. :)
:)
okay. that's it.
THIS week....... oh goodness. too
many things.
so on MONDAY i was thinking about
what dad was talking about with setting goals & stuff, & i wrote about
it a lot in my journal & then just took a picture of that journal page
& sent it to you haha because that's easier :) :) but basically, sister
silva & i had a lot of fun coming up with our vision goals &
applications for the transfer. i like it because it gives us a why and a how so
it's not impossible & you actually want it :) :) fun times in mission life!
:)
also. my friends. i've been thinking
about them a lot (my mission friends who i serve & try to help.) & this
is something that came into my mind -- how would you live if you really knew
that this was the plan of happiness???
think about that. i have been. it's
cool :)
also, other things. I am on a
mission. a mission to do what? a mission to bring JOY :) :) and it makes me so
happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there are 5 things that i need every human to
understand.
1. your Heavenly Father loves you
2. because He loves you, He wants
you to have joy
3. because He loves you, He has
given you directions for living joyfully
4. these directions are centered on
His Son Jesus Christ, who also loves you, & whose atoning sacrifice makes
all things possible.
5. follow the directions. live
joyfully. amen.
that is basically my message.
FRIENDS. listen up & be happy :) :) :)
so also, i love wisconsin & the
humans here more than i ever ever ever ever ever thought possible. alma 26:1.
story of my mission. story of my life :) :) :) love it.
in other news...... i love this
land. & i love being a missionary.
(i guess that really isn't news
anymore is it..........)
oh hey. guess what happens this
week? november 14, 2013. guess what happened november 14, 2012?
yeah. when did THAT happen?????
#notokay #yearmark
craziness. whaterr. :) :)
so tuesday it was beautiful
washington rain & so sister butler & i went to starbucks & i got a
peppermint steamer & a FREE SAMPLE (i love free food!!!!) of the most
delicious donut of my life. it was magical :) :)
thursday we taught a lesson over
texting........ our friend is always too busy to let us come see her, but she was
texting us back so i'm like whatever sister...... i'm gonna teach you about
prayer right now over this text. and will i invite you to pray, using
"will you" language? youbetcha i will. and will my companion promise
you blessings over text? YOUBETCHA. :) :) so that was fun. yayyyy,
creativity??????
oh SPEAKING of creativity, we have
had the funnest lessons of my LIFE this week.
so my dear friend k... well first of
all, i have to apologize for being skimpy in my letters.... we just deal a lot
with people's personal lives, especially lately, and i don't really feel like
that should be all over the internet?? (because soooooo many people read these
letters i'm sure... haha. but still) :) but i will just tell you that i love k.
like SO MUCH. she's the one who got married in august!! :) :) anyways i love
her. and she has been strugglin but that is okay because i love her. tuesday we
went to fazzoli's (italian fast food place where she works) during her break
and did she smoke a ciagrette? YES despite our best efforts to distract her
with rock paper scissors ugly face. did we follow her out into the rain and
chase her down and love her anyways? YES. wednesday we had a lesson with her
where we just looked at pictures of the Savior (thank you for the gospel art
book!!!!!!!!!!!!!) & talked about them. FRIDAY was my favorite. we took her
HEART-ATTACKING with us & s to some other friends in the ward who could use
the cheering up and it was SO FUN and we all wrote scriptures that we liked on
the hearts and then afterwards we got toms popcorn and ice cream and it was
delicious fun land. YEAH SERVICE. it was seriously soooooo fun. :) :) :) i love
k & s & missionary land :) :) and then YESTERDAY. oh my family. i am so
proud of this hahaha. so she (k) loves this game on her phone where you
like.... hack portals?? whatever. there's like levels & stuff. so we have
turned the gospel lifestyle (directions for living joyfully!!!) into a game of
secret missions. we write their missions on post-it notes or text them, and
when they complete the mission they unlock a new one and we have sound effects
& bonus points & it's just really fun :) :) :) tonights secret mission:
fhe. they have 3 options. they said they'd do it :) :) (they = k & her
husband j. also a recent convert. also i love them.) :) :) so THAT'S been fun
:) :) #sistermissionarywork.
family, this is something that i've
realized.
i'm a different person than i was a
year ago. not drastically different (i don't think??) but significantly
different (i hope.) one of the major differences i hope to continue & that
i wish i would've learned sooner is to always be looking for opportunities to
serve in small ways... to reach out of my "bubble." every sunday we
pray to see those who need an extra hug or smile or chat. we seek out those who
are lonely, who are struggling, who are depressed, and we sit with them.
looking around the cultural hall at a ward activity i'm no longer looking for
people who like me, who i'm comfortable with... i'm looking for someone who
needs to be uplifted. where am i needed, who can i serve... rather than where
will i fit in. i'm obviously not perfect at it, but i'm trying & i wish i'd
started sooner. :) :)
speaking of things i wish i'd
started sooner....... SPANISH. seriously. note to my past self: LEARN SPANISH.
YOU WILL USE IT ON YOUR ENGLISH-SPEAKING MISSION. seriously sooooooooo
muchhhhhhhhhh i wish i knew spanish. also asl. MAJORLY USEFUL. we've been
trying to teach in spanish this week haha we'll definitely be using the
members........ also missionaries. keep up on your mission language!!! the Lord
will use your skills in the future :) :)
hmmmmm what else....... oh. i love
the Book of Mormon because it teaches me truth about my Savior and that helps
me to know Him better which makes my life better. I didn't realize for a long
time the simple & amazing truths taught in the Book of Mormon that have
completely shaped my life!! i've just... always known them. didn't know i had
the Book of Mormon to thank for that!! it's a miracle :) :)
one night we had double dinners. i
am fat. :( :(
everybody smokes. we're working on
it.
OH, going back to service........ we
went & visited a sweet sister this week who said that us coming was just
what she needed & how did we know & perfect timing & all
that....... and as missionaries that happens a lot (this is kinda all we
do.....) but this is what i realized: we went to visit her because her visiting
teacher recommended it. remember that quote... God does love us, and He watches
over us; but it is usually through another person that He meets our needs? 1) I
LOVE BEING THAT OTHER PERSON. 2) i don't mean to spoil our secret but........
home & visiting teaching. home teachers and visiting teachers who really
watch over & care about their families & sisters? I HAVE A TESTIMONY OF
THAT. so amazing. so inspired. i just love this gospel <3 <3
I LOVE HELPING PEOPLE. i'm not
perfect at it but i'm trying!!!!!! & i love them!!!!!!!! sooo much :) :) :)
I love being a missionary and being able to do this full-time!!!!!! what a
blessing!!!!!! :) :) :)
other things: i think i found the
nephite's secret password. read galatians 5:1. and then alma 58-61. also mosiah
23. IT IS COOL AND I LOVE IT. :) :)
also, a veteran's day scripture for
you all: alma 61:15. "the Spirit of God... is the spirit of freedom."
:) :)
okay family. i think that's all.
WHAT A WEEK. i love it. OH i almost forgot to tell you... did we teach the
relief society lesson last sunday with 30 minutes notice? YES WE DID. did we
invite the entire relief society to commit to something? yes we did :) :) :) :)
#missionarywork #boombaby :) :) love it.
okay now i really think that's all.
we're just doin our best to help this ward. we love them so much. sister silva
is amazing and i love her. she's a newbie too! been out just 3 months last week
:) :) so lovely. i love this wisconsin land. i love being here. i love you all
soooooooooo much. what a WONDERFUL plan of happiness we have been given. i
testify (yes i am soooooo sister missionary right now #yearmark #whatever) that
is IS the plan of happiness. i promise you that it is. I KNOW IT. with
everything that i have i know it. now i just have to live it :) :)
LOVE YOU FAMILY SO SO MUCH. you are
the greatest thing that has ever happened to me :) :) :)
LOVE YOU FOREVER (thanks to the plan
of salvation) ;)
